Broken Diver!

A friends AP Diver has stopped working. It sounds like it’s winding and when you push the crown in it runs for five seconds and then stops. If you pull out the crown and push it straight back in again, it runs for another five seconds etc.

Any ideas?

I hear that some movements can become magnetised and experience similar symptoms. Give AP a call on Monday and ask their advice. Either way its a trip to AP for a look, hopefully not a trip back to its motherland though.

A visit to a good watchmaker or AP service.

Broken Diver!

It could be a mainspring problem, assuming it’s fully wound.

As suggested, a call to AP, probably followed by a service will be necessary

Do you know the age of the watch/ service history ?

Thanks all, exactly what I told him. The watch is only three years old but he doesn’t ‘mother’ it.

I assumed it was a hairspring issue but I hadn’t considered the magnitised option.

Will let you know the outcome once he’s been to AP.
