A regulator arm on a 3135?

Sorry but didn’t think there was one on a 3135...

I'm sure he means the stud arm.

Yes, my bad, I was referring to the stud arm (the one you move to adjust beat error) and I want to know the the function of the screw that is literally screwed in the arm...

It secures the hair spring stud in the arm.

Is it possibly the 3135-5115 screw then? And there’s a warning either way - loosen the bridle screw a bit beforehand. Sorry if I’m didactic - just happened to be meeting with my watchmaker while reading this discussion.

No, this screw is the one that secures the small metal plate (i.e. bridle) that is over the bridge. This plate impedes rotation of the stud arm as a safety mechanism so the beat error is not altered from shocks.

Yep that's on the top. My screw reference screws into the side like the other picture shown.

And if I were to try taking off in a fighter jet I would kill myself because I don't know what I'm doing.
Your skill is way cooler

ppsssst.... I'mmmm baaaaAaaaack! Hahaha!

Hey guys, glad you are still enjoying this thread. I got out of watches for a while after the robbery. I am back though, just had to increase security !

Now that I am back... Rik! Is it possible for someone as crazy as I to safely remove the bezel of a newer sub [116610] ? Special tools? I hear the inner washer or what have you must be replaced but is not obtainable?

My pearl does not line up... which is not the biggest of deals but.. :D

Also, I wanted to know what you recommend for refinishing the bracelets? Just rebrushing really.. I tried to refinish a clasp on my sub but I was just not pleased.. Hmmmm!

How's everyone doing in 2018? Cheers guys!

If you guys are curious what I do with all my time and so forth, I have a little makerspace I use 3D printers, CNCs, electrical engineering in and even do metal casting now.. hah. My company (computer networking etc) is doing well still, thankfully so I can play still. Life is good. Here is the makerspace FB page for those interested in my craziness outside of watches: https://www.facebook.com/BridgewaterMakerspace/ I also teach classes and deal with getting kids into science and STEM stuff :) Always learning and always teaching!

You'll need the plethora of tools for this bezel.. I hate the modern system and constantly have to check the manual (I don't do them very often). I'd stay away as hobbyist watchmaker, not that I doubt your skill, but it is just a pain.

Do you have a link or something to the method for this?

I work with 'myRolexWorld' which is for Rolex authorized watchmakers only. I cannot and will not share anything.

Yep understand how that works. I service them, but no parts account. My dad used to have a parts account years ago though.

As others have said, a load of tools/presses/die/parts which can only be obtained after attending /passing AWCI training that is above and beyond the AWCI CW 21 training required for a Rolex parts account.

The easy part is removing the bezel and insert. The tough part (from how it is described to me) is the reinstallation that requires the correct presses and parts such as the Delrin ring that is seated and pressed without breaking the ceramic insert.

Hi no the gasket Hytrel is only available to parts account holders with the complete set of dies for the new Rolex case machine plus you have to take the Special case function course from AWCI in order to purchase the complete set. It comes off relatively easy but gasket gets destroyed in the process. Hope that helps Rik

Soooo.... How is everyone doing in 2020? I ended up selling that Submariner I fixed, I sold it for maybe 3500? Now it sells for 7,000+

Crazy isn't it? Hope you guys are doing well! It's amazing to see everyone posting videos about this stuff now on youTube (Rikki and I were pioneers!). Fascinating how watch collecting / repair (as a hobby) has evolved. I'm still tinkering, Rikki will tell you I am into all kinds of nutty things from 3D printing to laser cutting these days, my company also keeps me busy but I've slowly been sneaking back into the watch tech stuff ;) I'll post an update soon on a current project.

Wear them in good health my friends!

Did not take me long to make another forum purchase!

Changing it up tech-side, how about some Quartz!? I know I know!!!! But hear me out: It's the curious page in Rolex history of the OysterQuartz!

Let's peek under the hood! (Also thanks to Knappo 1307/Jason for a smooth transaction!) (If you have a chance to work with him / do a deal... go for it!)

The watch is running well so I won't tinker with it (yet) but there was a question about last service and I stopped to admire the movement / share it.

From the 12/2018 $60 purple ink, I’m guessing a battery change only? Maybe a case gasket, too...

New gasket, battery was just replaced. I was mostly checking what was on the back of the watch to see if there were any service scribbles + check state of the movement.
