Icon7 My new Zenith Daytona, chosen by fate.

Hi all,

As some of you know I have been torn recently between getting a new Daytona and putting a panda dial on it, or getting a Zenith Daytona. Last night I met up with JeremiahLee (who is amazing) to potentially sell him my 1675 GMT and he was wearing a stunning, 'A' serial Zenith Daytona. I had never tried one on before and once I did, I found a Daytona that finally sang to me.

It is one of the last Zenith Daytona's to come off the production line with Luminova, SEL and the semi-updated clasp. I'm glad it happened this way. As much as I tried, I couldn't get around my dislike for the newer Daytona's look (the movement is way cool though) mainly due to the shiny totalizer registers. I also wasn't a fan of the PCL and I am glad that I ended up with a collectible, stunning watch that is all original, instead of swapping dials and polishing a newer Daytona to get the look I wanted.

The legibility is excellent on the zenith, and the chronograph works fantastic. I really love using chronographs as I time things every day, it is easy to read as well. Due to the polished lugs and heavy bracelet, it has a great tool feel, the last of its kind. Knowing that this was the model that made the Daytona so coveted and hard to get is fun too.

The white dial is really beautiful and makes the watch wear bigger than I thought it would which I'm very happy about, and when the light hits it all the white gold on the dial puts on quite a light show for me, without being blingy.

My collection has finally gotten to a point where I feel I'm out of the constant flipping phase, and I have a nice selection from different eras that I don't see myself doing anything but adding to: A 1680 Red from '78, an Omega SMP from 1997, a Daytona from 1999 and a SubC ND 2014.

Thanks for everyone's help in answering my questions during my latest search, and thanks to JeremiahLee for being an incredible seller.

Pics!

Congrats. So your a-serial doesn't have PCL's? It started life with them...

Wondering why it didn't come with PCL's, Someone brushed your bracelet. Here is my A serial Zenith for reference.

I was torn between the Zenith and the 116520. I ended up picking up the newer one for a super deal, but it's still on my want list. Just waiting for the right one to come up. Congrats on a super watch!

Congrats on the incoming

Quick question - does it have PCL's (it would appear to from the pics but you made a reference to not liking the PCL's on the 116520)?

The A series 16520 came with PCL's so this should also have them unless they have been brushed out
