You can go swimming and diving with the Triplock unscrewed.

It is rated to 500 Bar and it gets that rating from its internal seals not from a fingertight crown seal.

Same with the twinlock to its rating.

My SubC has an upright crown, and my polar ExpII has an upside down crown. The Sub runs 2 seconds a day fast, and the Exp is accurate to the second. Therefore, I have just proven that upside crowns are to be desired, as they make for a more accurate time piece. Case closed.

I wouldn't be able to tell you if any of my Rolexes had upright crowns, that's how meaningless it is to me. But I'm sure the marketing geniuses at Rolex could make money offering such a thing (or any trivial thing for that matter).

Again, my point is that it's arbitrary. Unlike the face with a definite orientation there isn't one with respect to the crown logo. A bunch of ocd wis types have decided that it should be at 12 when the watch is laid on it's case back. I say it should be wherever the heck it is when tightened down. I don't believe this to be a detail that needs attention.

Severely OCD here and I'd pay $0. Not a big deal at all.
