There's no wrong choice here but my money would go to the Sub.

Stunning. Well done. How amazing being one of the first to own the new 3-day movement!

After having two tone, I also prefer the steel models too. I'm reading this thread to help me decide between either a new Datejust 41 (in steel smooth bezel) or a new Sub No Date. If I'm honest I probably want the Datejust. I mean look at my user name When I was younger I wanted the Sub but I couldn't afford one, so I ended up with a Datejust- with no regrets I might add. BUT, the fame of the Submariner No Date is also an extremely challenging and influential factor.

For OP, I speak as a one Rolex watch man, so I would take your lifestyle into account and list what you like and don't like about each piece. Then list what dislikes you can and cant live with, for each piece and go wit the least. This rarely fails. You've got the configurations sorted, so your hallway home

Now my opinion. Any Sub is big time. A gold one is the some. But (for some)they are also not a very discreet watch, especially in gold. I feel the Datejust is more elegant, more versatile and looks better than the Sub, in this particular case, so I would choose that ;-) Good luck!

Yes, but many people have worn two-tone Datejusts as everyday watches over the years. The problem I (personally) found with two tone is that they can be very expensive to upkeep. Bezels wear down and bracelets can stretch.

I came to realize the steel Datejusts are probably the best everyday/ lifetime timepieces. Rugged choices with good versatility and very manly too Subs are good too of course.

TT sub a just plain gorgeous. Not that the DJ isn't. It is just the the Sub is a little more special to me.

I'm with you the Datejust 41. Yours look great on the Jubilee with steel bezel. Its so classy and versatile. Sub (in gold) just seems like I'd be trying too hard, but still beautiful of course!

I know OP is considering the two-tone Datejust, which is very nice, but I may pick up the Datejust 41 in the Rhodium or Silver indices dial. If not it will be a Sub No Date. They are not easy decisions. Seems we all have our dilemmas Cant really go wrong anyway I guess!

I think the TT datejust 41 in everose gold & sundust dial looks fantastic...I would keep the gmt as an everyday/casual/tool watch & get the datejust for other occasions. That way you will have a more balanced duo IMO (SS sporty & TT dress watches).

It looks beautiful indeed. What's your wrist size as the 40mm maxi case sits perfectly on your wrist.

My 1994 TT DJ36 came to me in 2002 and I wore it daily for 15 years. Never took it off for any activity. The fluted bezel didn't show a mark after that time. The bracelet was in very good shape too. Also bear in mind the new DJ41 bracelet has solid links now. Smooth bezel isn't practical, it will scratch. Jubilee a must as this doesn't show scratches.

As you have a GMT, do for the "other" look, the DJ.

Having the same dilemma.
Currently have submariner ceramic (the proper one without the date) but want to add a weekender.
Looking at the blue sub TT or the stainless DJ41 on an oyster with the fluted bezel and dark blue dial.
I find the TT DJ41 a bit old fashioned especially on a jubilee.
What’s your thoughts?

They wear and feel very different. You need to try them on. The DJ41 is a more comfortable watch to wear. The Bluesy looks nicer- I'm not a fan of the Jubilee bracelet. If you put an oyster on the DJ41, it would be a tough call.

Given the fact you have a sport model (GMT) I supposed the DJ would go nicely. I love 2 tone.

Both watches are beautiful, hard to go against the Bluesy.
However in the DJ, I think the RG TT with the Sundust dial or a white dial would be my choice over YG and a Black dial. Even then, the Bluesy is stunning.
Good luck deciding, pick the one that you can't stop looking at, and can't put down without picking it up again.

On the other hand, I love the traditional looking datejust 41 with the jubilee bracelet. Any thoughts? Does anyone have either or both and does the datejust two tone with a black face still work as a casual watch? Thanks.
I think most of us would get the sub hands down. Two of the most iconic watches that Rolex makes are the Day Date and the Submariner. I personally find the Datejust to be too similar to a Day Date and thus haven't felt the need to own one. If you have the coin I'd recommend deciding between a YG sub and a YG/WG/RG Day Date and skip the Datejust. If not, I'd get the TT bluesy and not look back.

Side note: I think the Day Date and the YG sub can go with a suit, but the TT watches can sometimes be on the sporty side for formal wear.

I am going through a similar thought process as I want a two tone watch as well, and I am also torn between the same two models as well (although for me it is the datejust 41 with the white dial).
Lately I have been leaning towards the Sub more, oddly enough, because it would hold its value better and if I changed my mind I would be able to move it faster.
However overall I am a bigger fan of the Datejust 41 line. When I picture myself being older I feel that the two tone 41 fits in better, with the image I think I will want.
As you can see I am also torn, I am also putting myself about one year or so out before making that decision.

I should add that lately, I was thinking about a possible used daydate 36 in gold as another option.

I don't have either, but not a big fan of the Bluesy. I'd probably go with the DJ. Love the blue dial. Personally I like the fluted - jubilee combo. Good luck

DJ or TT Daytona. The dials of the Sub and GMT are too similar. You need something different.
