Should I buy it anyway?

So I travel a lot and called an AD (not in my home town) who I talked to before and he has my name on the waiting list for the usual suspects (hulk and Daytona SS)

Today I called to check my position on the list and as I was hanging up he said that they have a Batman If I’m interested!!

It’s really not a watch I’ve been wanting but would I be wrong passing the opportunity?

I don’t want to become grey market dealer and am not interested in the buy sell theme but what do yuh guys think?
A- Should I buy it and maybe trade it to something I want later on
B- buy it and sel it to Fund a watch I want
C- pass and just wait for what I want

Finally with the “expected” price increase from Rolex, D- is it a good investment to buy it and keep it in my safe?

Help is appreciated

I think once you buy that and wear it a little bit it will quickly become one you really like. It wasn’t even on my radar at first and now it’s one of my favorites . I’ve never seen one at an AD . I’ve seen Pepsi ones and regular ones just this week. A regular GMT doesn’t really do it for me as I like the sub way more but the Batman goes with just about anything.

I’d take it in a heartbeat, but not at a premium.

It’s an AD so they would give it to me for MSRP or maybe a slight discount and since it’s not at my home town I would have it shipped to me after I go in the store and pay for it

Sounds like a good opportunity then. It’s a great looking watch.

I bet if you take it you’ll never give it up. Mine is the only watch I wear. I wear my YM as a dress watch once a month for a few hours. You’ll,regret not taking it......

Buy a watch you want to wear. You are over complicating this. Buy it and fund, buy it and trade are both money losing opportunities. Which aren't opportunities at all.

It’s a hard Watch not to like. Give it a try. Worst case you can flip and most likely get out even.

Honestly if you’re not really interested in it I’d wait for the one that you want.

Every AD i visit, has them in stock. If it's not a watch you like, why buy it.
I don't think you'd be able to sell for profit, as they are available.

Option A - Buy what you want and will wear.
Option B - you yourself said you are not interested in the buy and resell theme so this is a no!
Option C this is your best option
Option D - refer to my response for option A.

Unlike stainless Daytona and Sky-Dweller, BLNR, Sub-LV, and SD43 probably won't be the short term profit making watches. The most you will get back is what you paid for. Maybe long term, 10-20 years from now. Maybe.

But it is a fine watch. You may grow to like it. Worst case, you see it as spending a little money to enjoy a watch for a little while. Trade it to get what you want.

I had a similar experience a few months back. I called my AD and asked if they had a Hulk and was told they just got a BLNR in but didn't have a Hulk. I bought the BLNR and it has been my daily wearer since. But that said, I don't think you should buy the BLNR unless you've seen it and liked it. I bought the BLNR because I had been eyeing for a while and knew I would like it. I already owned a Sub-C and was looking to buy the Hulk because I liked the sub generally and believed the Hulk was going to get very very hard to get and potentially a future legend. If the BLNR has never been on your radar, don't get it. Wait for your Hulk.

If you flip it you will lose money. Batman is easy to find brand new now at retail.

You’ve said previously you have been lookin for a 16710. So buy the BLNR and then trade it for a good 16710 when you finally find one. Personally I prefer the 16710 over the BLNR.

I say give it a try. I walked into my AD and saw one in the case, and snapped it up immediately, hoping to give it a chance. I paid full retail plus taxes.

It ended up not working out, but I lost less than $50 all-in on it after 3 months. Not a bad price to pay to try something out and discover it's not for me.

Visited mayors in Buckhead recently and they are on wait list for this watch. As they are the biggest dealer, as a company, in The US I’d say the majority of ADs don’t readily have them

If your not sure I'd say buy it anyways, then you'll be in a better position for sure. Love it, keep it. If not, it's sure easy to sell or trade, either way your ahead.

I'd pass and find a watch I really wanted.
It sounds like you know what you really want, so just get that.

Do you think taking this improves your chances for hulk / Daytona? If so, I'd do it

Buy it if you like it. It is a beauty of a GMT and if you like it, it makes a good addition to any collection.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I will go and see it on my wrist but if it looks too similar to my subC I will pass.

Thanks for all the comments and help.

If its not something you had in mind, just pass
Let someone have it who can appreciate it more than you do
You wont make money selling it

I love mine and its a watch that made me step into the Rolex game

Don't buy something you have/had no interest in.

That said, the blnr is amazing. One of my favorite modern references.
