Actually, we are not talking about bezels, but-
bezel inserts - both aluminum and ceramic. Minor technical point, but more strictly accurate.

I have only owned the Ceramic. I like it but, that said, I have no experience with the Aluminum bezel.
All I can say is; I work in an industrial environment and I've hit my watch on metal walls/pipes many times. No scratches. *knock on wood* |

To listen to the ADs talk about the ceramic inserts one would think they are indestructible.
But I keep hearing stories and reading on this forum about incidences that occur to the ceramic that become very costly fixes. I for one am yet to be sold on any of the newer 6 digit models. I love my LV Sub and Pepsi GMT and the beauty of them is I can change out the insert colors anytime. |

The bottom line is that it's not as common as these forums make it out to be. Even if you took every story about a scratched/chipped bezel and calculated it based on how many members have a ceramic bezel (or perhaps how many have been manufactured?), I think you'll find it's extremely rare. It's not indestructible, but it's not exactly fragile either. Don't believe the hype. |
