My little "Rolex box"

I would like to publicly acknowledge a kind gesture by one of my good friends and forum member Norm (timetogo) who contributes regularly here on TRF.

A few months ago, on two separate occasions, I posted some photos in a couple threads depicting a GMT and Day Date conspicuously placed on an aftermarket, but very interesting “Rolex box.” One day I was talking with Norm, and he asked me about the “Rolex box” that I had used in the previous mentioned photos. I explained to Norm that the box belonged to my watchmaker who obtained it at a watch show several years ago. I told Norm that it is a very unique box and is a great prop for taking photos. I said that I wouldn’t mind having one for myself and asked him to keep his eye out for one in his travels.

Today I received a package from Norm and was totally surprised after I opened it. I thought the contents was entirely something else that I was expecting from him, but, to my surprise, when I opened the package, there was an identical, little “Rolex box” that had graced some of my photos months ago. I was ecstatic and overwhelmed at this gesture of friendship.

Thank you Norm. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and friendship. You brought a big smile to my face today.

Pictured below is my new, faux-vintage, little “Rolex box, adorned with my 1975 GMT 1675 that I picked up today from my watchmaker. I couldn't be happier. Thanks again Norm.

That was an incredibly thoughtful gesture, Norm is the best

PS: Nice GMT!

I think these were pocket watch boxes. I have seen them for omega, IWC and some other brands too. very cool piece.

You've been pretty smitten with that 1675 lately... It's a killer watch. Stunning patina. and an interesting little box.

I've never posted photos of this GMT before on TRF before. I do own a couple other GMTs besides the 1675s

This is a 16750 GMT

For those asking. I think they are a reproduction due to their priced point

Well. I should have looked at the pics closer. Haha. I assumed it was the 1675 you posted a while ago.

I've never seen a 16750 with that kind of patina before. Whose sock drawer was it hidden away in for the last 15 years?
