M1 or Mk2 dial
Hi I have recently inherited a 1675 by my father and wanted to learn a bit more about the dial. I believe it is a 1965 or maybe later. It is gilted and I believe the dial is gloss It has been serviced but never polished. Any help in dating this beautiful piece would be appreciated.

Anywhere between 1964 through 66 as this is the final gilt GMT dial. Rolex switched to white lettering (with some transitional overlap) at some point in 1966. If you watch a vid on youtube explaining how to take the bracelet off you can take a pic of the serial number between the lugs if you would like us to be more specific... although there will be debate on this forum even with the serial # :).
Where did he buy it? Did he wear it every day? We love a good story. |
