Congrats. Out of curiosity, what causes this pronounced aging to occur?

I thought the Collectors consensus was that only the Rail Dial Explorers with the WG surrounds where the only “real” Cream Dialed Explorers?

I thought it was the same about the white gold surrounds, but some are rail and some are not. I am not an expert, but can water damage be ruled out here?

That dial looks baked. I've never seen a real one in nature that even comes close to that. That one looks like it was done at very high heat. The color of the dial doesn't even come close to any accepted cream EXII I've seen never mind the surround, rail, and T legend at the bottom anomalies.

Add in the poor condition of the hands and lume plots and that's enough to send me running for the exit. I would love to hear Springer's opinion.

I'd be interested to hear his opinion too. It's an 8.8 million serial so it definitely lines up with the date of production. The aging could just be from UV exposure or something along those lines

I agree with Richard. Stating, "aging could just be from UV exposure or something along those lines" would be wishful thinking. Something has altered the dial and it wasn't UV lighting. It definitely appears to have the attributes of being baked. There are issues with the lume too. Sorry, but I call it as I see it.

By the way, there is plenty of shenanigans going on out there in Vintage Land - especially with the gilt watches and vintage Daytonas as well as all the Patrizzi Daytonas that seem to be found in Italy. Many of the gilt dials have been repaired or re-lacquered as well as having the dials/hands relumed with decades-old tritium and passed off as original. Additionally if anyone thinks all these evenly patine d tropical dials are original, well, you need a reality check.

Agree with the above. I own a 16550 with yellow markers, but the dial is white as on day 1.

The dial might be from the 16570 no? Since it has the black painted indexes?

There are actually instances of cream dialed 16570 but those seem to be extremely rare.

I just talked to the guy. He said he’s gotten it checked out and it definitely isn’t artificially aged, the lume plots are not evenly faded. Would definitely appreciate more opinions. Thanks all

Something certainly ain’t right. What’s up with the bubbling on the hour hand? That’s certainly not the result of natural aging/patina.

I’d love to see a photo of a blacklight on the dial/hands. That could give you a clue.

I have a bit of aging near my crown tube on my oyster precision. I wish it would spread across the dial

I agree something fishy going on there....bubbling hour hand is not good. Any dealer or person looking to sell is going to say they had it checked out and it’s legit.....just like that great running car that breaks down the next day

While i think the colors are striking at first glance, I agree that something just isn't right with this one. Those bubbles on the hour hand and the small divot on the 12 o'clock triangle really bother me.

There are pot marks in the lume of the hour plots, almost as if there were bubbles that popped.

That non-tapering second hand may be indicating an aftermarket hand(set). Glad that the OP has an option to return if needed.

Nice to see you have the option to return the watch , Its obviously not correct .But it will no doubt be snapped up by somebody who hasn't got the expertise of this forum to help them out .
