Service for a 1675

I have a 1675 from 1977. Was fortunate to buy it from a reputable vintage Rolex dealer before the prices shot up. I don’t know the service history.

I would like to get it serviced. Nothing wrong with it, just want it to last another 40+ years so, seals and oil is all I want.

Stopped into a Rolex approved repair shop local to me. He will limit the scope of the repairs to Seals and oil only but, said Rolex requires him to replace the crystal. He assured me it would be replaced with a factory Rolex part ($32) and they never changed (unlike the 5513).

I have no plans to sell the watch but, will replacing the crystal impact resale or detract from the appeal of the watch? The patina and slight bezel fade. Will a new crystal detract from that?

.
If the crystal needs replacement with a service, go for it!
It will be guaranteed to pass the pressure test..
A picture will not help determine if the watch will pass with it...

Personally I don’t think it will effect value much. I would pay top dollars if the rest of the watch is in top condition.

I blame it on autoconnect.

He assured me it would pass a pressure test before it left his shop. Said he was audited by Rolex 3 weeks ago. The rep watched him service a watch and then took it apart to inspect every piece after he was finished.
