Meters First 5513
Hello all. Is 1557xxx too early for a matte meters first dial?

Yes saw it. According to it it is too early. Owner says dial might have been changed at service.

Pic of the piece in question. Not very clear. Could this be a service dial?

Hey Steve,
You know, I have not. I think I saw 1.5 listed somewhere , but personally I have seen 1.59 iirc. But I defer to you big boys for the final word! ------ Instagram: @mattedialdoc |

Question is if this dial could be installed at Rolex a few years ago?

Everything with serial number 14xxxxx (mid 1966, marking the transition of gilt Meters First to matte Meters First dials) to ca. 235xxxx (early 1970) is correct for a matt Meters First 5513. |

Nah, it’s not like that. I should have added that it’s possible to see one, but these examples were one or two owner documented watches.

So it is possible this is the original dial it came with if we consider the serial?

As previously written, matte Meters First dials started production around mid 1966 so starting with ca. a 1.4xxxxx serial number.
