My new old Rolex (16233)

After I sold all my Rolex watches and decided to settle for one, preferably 5 digit Coke or Pepsi.......I came across this puppy and couldn’t resist it.
I had 3 Datejusts before, all 36mm, but I never had a 2 tone and jubilee, so I wanted to have one at some point.

This one is an R serial, which is from 87-89. It was sold by Birks in Canada and was, also, serviced in 2001. It came with service paper and a service box, only.
Looks super sharp but I think it may have been lightly polished while serviced.
Everything looks mint and right to my eye.

Bracelet has little stretch, I would rate it at 8/10.
I have 20 links, I believe it should hv been 22. Correct me I am wrong.

The watch sat in its box for the last 15 yrs, it was worn once or twice a year.

While I consider this a vintage, this model has a few modern upgrades that are always nice to have: quick-set, hacking, sapphire glass

Thats a lovely piece. I am a bit like you, I have owned all the sports watches subs etc and I picked up a smaller version of your watch recently and have been quite taken by it. Its light, comfortable, very accurate and just looks lovely.

Thank you!
Love the 36mm DJ.

DJ2 and DJ41 are both a bit too large for my small wrist....so I always had 36mm DJs.
In fact, I decided that 5 digit ref are the ones for me. Unless Rolex makes some adjustments to the cases....I am likely to only buying pre-owned, 90’s models.

What a beautiful watch there! My TT DJ 1601 gets 6 days wear a week (Sundays I wear my AK 5500). Like yours, mine has that same Gold Champagne dial but the hour markers and minute ring are slightly different. At first I didn't think I'd like a TT so much but man I've come to really appreciate its versatility. It wears so comfortable on my wrist. Again, great watch you have!
