Swapped out my 299 for a 1312. It was hard to read the date on the cyclops for me and I prefer the 44mm size.

Yes. 299 is effectively a brushed 104 on bracelet. Back in the day of the 299, Panerai didn’t make 42 mm Luminors.

Anyway, what matters is that you’re happy now.

funny, because I did not care for the bracelet either. for the short time I had it, I always wore the rubber strap.

The croc looks great, but it’s so stiff now and a pain to put on. May switch to rubber or a canvas strap I have because lazy. LOL
