Storing Oysterquartz
I have recently received my Oysterquartz 17000 back from a full service at RSC NY. The watch will be seldom worn. I had read somewhere not to hack the Oysterquartz for storage as it consumes more energy in that state. To my surprise I just noted in the Rolex service manual posted at Oysterquartzdotnet(sorry I am too new to post links) that Rolex recommends storing the Oysterquartz with the crown pulled out to position 3. And further states this will “strongly reduce battery consumption. I guess the service manual is the best source for such info. How do you store your Oysterquartz?

Do what the manual tells you to do. They are the ones who designed the watch.

As the Rolex manual states I'm assuming they know best.

Agreed
I plan to run it for a couple months to QC the overhaul. After that I will hack it to extend battery life. The manual also states the second hand will start exactly one second after pushing the crown in. That tells me there’s module /switch input rather than just blocking the gear train as I understand some quartz movements do.
