False Rolex

Good night friends.
I would like to know how to check the authenticity of my Rolex GMT Master II just by the casing or serial number. I suspect that the watch I bought is false but the seller is claiming that I changed the clock machine while keeping the casing casing. I'm in big trouble!

I don't think that you are in big trouble. If you were sold a counterfeit product then the seller is in big trouble. Notify the authorities.

I see you are from the country...

Well, in your case you should call Rolex Brasil in São Paulo. They won't give you info by just telling them the S/N. They are going to ask you to take the watch there to verify it, along with the S/N.

There, they can say if it's a Fake or Stolen... Either cases, they will keep the watch there and won't give it back to you !

Let me speak better. I bought a watch and left it on a specialist for evaluate the authenticity of the watch. The specialist said the watch was fake. However, when I returned it to the seller, he told me that the clock machine had been replaced by a fake machine, keeping only the same carcass. Now I suspect that the seller may have sold me a fake watch, or the specialist has changed the interior. Now if I take the watch on Rolex, of course they will claim it is false, since I checked it and the machine is really fake. I need to know who deceived me to take the necessary measures, including with the police. I can not charge without proof. It's no problem they to confiscate the fake watch as long as they submit me a full report to I can challenge the seller/specialist and and open a lawsuit.

False Rolex

This one is tough OP.

I understand the dilemma.

The problem is that the OP doesn’t know if he was sold a fake watch, or if it was real and the watchmaker swapped the movement, and now it is fake.

This is a valuable lesson. Unless you 100% trust the watchmaker, you stay there while he takes the case back off so you can see the movement. Then you make him show you the movement when you pick it up.

Yes, I clearly see your problems.

The seller said the case was good but the movement was fake?

Looks like a bad fake and not just the 'movement'. Take the watch to another AD or Rolex watchmaker. Get a 2nd opinion. I see so many issues with that dial and those hands.

Looks fake. Hands are too short, inconsistent thickness of font on bezel, doesn’t have green text for “GMT Master II”... green sticker on the caseback could be there aftermarket but is not era correct for 6 digit references.

No, everything about that watch is fake, including the bracelet and case. Go to the authorities and let them sort out who is being honest or not.

Sorry to say, but nothing about that watch is real. Looks like you have been scammed. I’m in no doubt.

Hope OP paid with CC or PayPal, otherwise its an expensive(?) lesson. Also choose a different watchmaker next time for your appraisals. Crazy

Friends, one more question:

Does the bezel turn on two sides? Or just counterclockwise?
