Yeah, I think this is it. And what some of us have been suggesting is the AD isn't "full of it", they are just telling you what their pricing is, which is their prerogative, not a fable they just made up.

If it doesn't work for you, it's no big deal, just use someone else. Personally, I like the relationship with my AD, so I stick with him because I feel it's worth it. He's never not given a discount, but I've never asked and would still buy from him if he couldn't do anything off MSRP. I find value in our relationship because I trust him, and he takes good care of any needs. I don't have any time to go watch shopping and hit multiple stores or anything, I can just call him, say I want "XZY", he tells me how much and the deal is done. If you have different needs, then by all means go the route which fits them best.

Always helps to shop around and double check with another AD. No matter how much history you have with this one, you still might get into a situation where they try to take advantage of you
