Sky Dweller SS Blue vs Daytona WG Blue

Hello everyone,

I know there's a big price difference, but aesthetically speaking, which one do you prefer? I know it's all down to your own taste but I just want to know what other people think, as both watches look fantastic!

In addition, which one do you think will hold its value better? If I am to get a used watch, there's a huge premium of £7-8k for SkyD blue, but WG Daytona is probably slightly below the retail price. If I buy one of these I am going to keep it but it will be good to know that they won't lose its value over time...

I prefer the WG Daytona Blue over the two you have mentioned.

As many will tell you, get the watch you want. The value difference over many years of enjoyment doesn't really matter in the end.

If you’re going to decide based on value I would say it’s the Sky Dweller but the Daytona is a much nicer looking watch in my opinion.

Buy the one you like the most and don’t worry about future value, especially if you plan to keep. Both are great watches. Hard to speculate which will hold value the best over time. Good luck with your choice.

Daytona is just a great watch!!! I'd go for that!!! It might depend on your wrist size as they're very different.

Make sure you see both in person, of course. The blue Daytona can look great in photos, but I found it quite dull in person. The blue is muted. The Sky Dweller is an acquired taste. That dial has A LOT going on!

The Skydweller has the more useful complication to me, so that’s where I’d go between the two.

Larger 42mm and more useful complications make Sky-Dweller my choice.

For so long I have wanted to embrace the Daytona. I really like the aesthetics, but primarily due to size its just not for me. I've not seen a SS Skydweller, but recently tried on a full rose gold Skydweller and it was very nice.

Daytona, and I’m not even a Daytona fan.

Complication-wise, the GMT is similar to the Skydweller and looks much better. Knowing the month of the year is basically worthless — far less important than knowing the day of the month or honestly even the day of the week.

The Skydweller is the flashier of the two imo. The Daytona is more subdued. Size between the two is also very different.

For my money and my wrist the Skydweller is the easy choice. IF your wrist can carry the SD. I like the aesthetic and think the complications are more useful.

I’d even make the same choice for the white dial sky dweller. Wrist size matters though and VERY SADLY the sky dweller is too big for me to pull off.

The Daytona however is ideal in size but I’m very partial to the ceramic references for OCD related reasons

On the wrist they couldn't be more different watches. The Daytona is a 40 MM watch that wears like a 38 due to the lack of a super case and the Sky is in the complete other direction as a chunky 42. You really need to try both of them on and see what fits your wrist better.

Sky Dweller SS Blue vs Daytona WG Blue

Modern proportions / size. Awesome complication masterfully conceived. Better legibility and much much more. My choice is Sky Dweller.

Daytona. The SkyD is too big for my wrist size. Plus the Daytona is the better looking one by far. The secondary markets and most of the watch buying world subscribe to that I would say.

Skydweller >> Daytona. Daytona too small to even consider for me and I think it looks quite dated and a bit fussy. Opposite for a woman, size and style-wise Daytona looks great. My opinion. Wish they made SkyD a mil or two wider actually ;)

I'm in the minority who prefer the white face SkyD, from seeing them in the metal. I don't see investment potential in the current grey asking price for the blue SkyD, but if you love it then I don't see it losing much after you've enjoyed it a while either.

Sky dweller is too big and too blingy.
