AD jacking up prices

Dear everyone,

After waiting for almost 7 months (so lucky), I finally got the call for the Starbucks Sub!!!

The thing that confused me is that AD charged me almost $13,300 pre tax. Total bill including tax 15% is $15,300.

Is this the actual retail price for a Starbucks sub?
If not, then why on earth would an AD charge extra?

Best as ever,

This is where you tell us all about the conversation you had with your AD. And their name.

Another good first post btw. We're on a roll here.

Check rolex website for MSRP in your country. It's highly unlikely AD charge you over MSRP. I don't believe they would risk losing AD status just to make a few thousands more on a
Starbucks.

Best as ever,
Please note that “AD” does not stand for Aftermarket Dealer.

The simple answer is because they can. The price is called Suggested Retail and ADs do all the time one way or another especially if it's a hot model and the market price is significantly higher than the suggested retail.

My AD does not have a waiting list and if you expect to get any hot model it's going to take some sort of leveraged deal that will net them somewhere close to market price otherwise you are not getting that watch from them.

I think that's very common in the markets you're in. For comparison, I remember seeing OF Daytona in Cairo 2 years ago and it was being sold at gray price from the AD.

I purchased a Hulk in KSA many years ago. The price was about 1500 euro more than the price in a European AD. I guess that has now significantly increased. AD prices weren’t shown on the website either.

I’d call them up, play dumb, and ask if you were overcharged since the Rolex website says $9,550.

What's the MSRP in your country? Let's compare apples to apples please. If it was in the US, it'd be a problem. However, you're overseas.

You were waiting almost 7 months for a watch that you didn’t know the retail price of?

Focusing on AD prices is penny-wise but pound-foolish considering the amount of money you're making as soon as you walk out the door.

The Starbucks comes in tall, grande and venti. The price changes based on what is ordered.

The LV sub has one msrp based on your county.

Here is the US Sub. I cannot imagine a country where a dealer can change what Rolex shows as their published price? I guess I actually can imagine that but not in the US to my knowledge..

It’s an official retailer, apologies if I used wrong acronyms here.
But I asked to be on the wishlist, filled a form and provided them with a business card.

KSA website does not show MSRP like the US or UK.
I am just confused and frustrated why the price is totally different.

Hehe that’s fair.
I didn’t want to make up a reference number and I know it’s known as Starbucks.
It was too late here to look up ref#

Sorry if that offended you but thank you for your time anyway

It’s an official retailed; no way they are selling pre owned

I am not planning to sell my friend.
Considering market prices here, I would be making around $5000 if I were to sell here in KSA

This is a bit of a backwards mentality
You're not making anything "as soon as you walk out the door" unless you walk out of the AD and straight to another dealer

If you actually want to keep the watch a wear it (shocking idea, i know) then you've made nothing

Rolex website here does not have MSRP, for some reason

I took public MSRP for granted.

I expected deviating from MSRP is a violation.

Don’t know if I can raise this up to Rolex, Geneva but apparently they are unapproachable 🤣
