Rolex pocket watch - barrel bridge
Hello everyone. I'm looking for some help identifying a rolex pocket watch movement. I will load pictures as soon as I can.
The escapement cock looks like a cortebert but the barrel bridge covers the winding wheel and barrel. I havent seen anything else like it. It doesn't seem to have any visable serial number. The previous owner claims it was an early 1930s pocket watch. Plenty of servicing Mark's on the case and it runs amazingly. I'll try to post the pictures asap. Thank you |

Im not so sure that is a Rolex movement. It looks very Waltham or Elgin like. Those Rolex engravings are very amateurish.

Definitely not a Waltham or Elgin. That is a Swiss movement, not American.
The dial has been redone. It is possible the Rolex name was engraved later on the movement. I would have to see another Rolex pocket watch with the same plates to be convinced that it is original. Not a valuable watch if it is correct. |

Thank you for your information!
I would love to find any other watch with the same plates just to try and trace a true manufacturer. For now it is just a fun piece in the collection! |

Hi, this is a 17 Ligne Recta movement made for Rolex. I have seen many of them. In those days, Rolex bought pocket watch movements from a variety of manufacturers. The most famous ones are the Cortebert 618 and 622. They also used Montilier and others.
I hope this helps. Cheers Jose
