Thinking of a 2020 Toyota Tundra...

As most know I was the GM at a Toyota dealership for 14 years. I’m a bit biased! I know they are a bit long in the tooth but reliability is fantastic. Ram is out. GMC is nice. Ford styling it not for me. Thoughts?

I have a 20 yr old 4 Runner Limited that’s like new. At least once a week I am approached asking if it’s for sale. If you want a pick up Toyota would be the one for me. They are amazing.

Do it. I’ve had a ‘19 Tundra now for about 4 months and couldn’t be happier. Wish I did it sooner.

Yes Shannon If I was gonna buy a truck in the next month it would be a 2020 Silverado or a Tundra.

I’ve been happy with my Toyota so far. Do you need the extra size of the Tundra? It was simply more size than I needed so I went with the Taco. If you do then absolutely I’d go for it!

I purchased a 2019 Tundra in April. Awesome truck and loving it. The gas mileage is horrible though.

The great part is Toyota's reliability and they are one of the few cars that hold their value.

I think looking at a new generation Ram is wise to do. They have upgraded the body, interior and most importantly, the ride quality. It’s loaded with features and tech to. I am overly impressed to be honest.

I have a 13 Taco with 140k on it, and it is still in really great shape, despite a wreck with airbag deployment. Synthetic oil change every 5k, scheduled maintenance. The only gripe I have, is that between my 2 Tacomas, I have replaced FIVE air conditioner blower motors. It's a design flaw, where the wires attach. They know about it, and refuse to recall. Not sure if the Tundra uses the same motor or not. Last time they fixed it for free. This truck has a quarter mil potential, and I doubt they'll fix it for free three more times.

Tundras and 4Runners are awesome. Had a 93 4Runner that lasted me over 10 years and no issues until I was rear ended in Chicago traffic... Solid vehicles built to last. I've been waiting to see what the next 4Runner will look like before buying my next vehicle.

Yes I think Ram has the best truck in the market with its new 1500. The beautiful interior alone just puts all other competitors to shame. How is the reliability so far?

I like the look of the Ram. I’ve just got a mental block in my head due to poor experiences in the past. Silverado and Sierra I’m considering. I just know the Toyota reliability is top notch.

I have two 2017 landcrusers that I bought new. They have been great! I understand that it is the same v8 that is in the tundra.

Can't go wrong with a Tundra in terms of reliability. With that said, the Raptor would be my choice. I might add one myself next year.

These things look like they've never been off the pavement or had anything in the cargo area.

The only off-roading my Jeep Wrangler has done is my 14ft driveway.

Are we a bunch of posers?

My 2006 Toyota Tundra has 140,000 miles on it and runs like a Swiss clo... yeah you know what I mean.

Getting a little outdated on the interior though. CD player and am/fm radio only.

Nice truck for sure. My bro in law just bought 4 of them (2019) on a great deal for his hunting lodge biz.

All Toyota Cars/ Trucks made well. I use a Toyota for work. I have close to 500.000 km on it, the only think I do is oil change every 5000 km.

I like the current model but I’m waiting on the new Tundra coming soon. Since it’s so close, I figure may as well wait see it and decide. If the new one doesn’t wow me, maybe there will be some ‘19s around. I want the 1794 trim.

I'd own a Tundra for reliability and total cost of ownership. Maybe a Titan for the amazing warranty and looks.

I'd lease a Big 3 if it were a use, abuse and return situation where only 3-4yrs are required. The rebate money they throw on the hood can't be ignored and you'll get 40-60k miles before the tranny, rear end, steering rack, and driver seat wears out.

Neat truck fact: The Tundra has the most US made content.

I bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited a little over a year ago. That thing was the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned! I literally had issues with it from the first full day of ownership. In the 14 or so months I owned it, I surpassed 14 trips in for service. One of those "visits" they kept it for two weeks, and several other times it was kept 4-7 days. The worst part is the issues were never resolved. Opened a case with Ram and had a case manager assigned blah blah blah, still no resolution.

I traded the Ram this past Tuesday towards a 2019 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve. I am very happy with this vehicle so far. I did have to give up a couple tech features like adaptive cruise control and auto-braking, but that doesn't bother me too much. Auto-braking has been more aggravating than helpful in my experiences.

Before this purchase, I spent two days test driving comparable models from each brand. The GMC Sierra 1500 Denali has a very nice ride as well as great features, but isn't as refined on the interior. The determining factor for me was Nissan was trying hard to sell cars with exceptional Black Friday deals. The GMC would have cost me about 15G more.

Probably hard to sway you from Toyota with your loyalty being so strong, but Nissan's 5 year bumper to bumper warranty was very appealing to me.

Did they fix the air injection pump (emissions) on the Tundra. They were known to fail just out of warranty and could cost a couple thousand to replace. It’s a bad design that will cause you to fail emissions testing.

I couldn't justify the Tundra when I bought my '17 4Runner, but it's an awesome truck. If you can get the TRD Pro version, I say spring for that. It just looks mean.

My neighbor who has a lot of cool cars, subject of Macan watch, cup driver. He had one with a supercharger and it was really cool. I think it was about 500 hp iirc, and Toyota trd sold them as you prob know

you can still buy the kits direct from direct from the manufacture and I recall it being very much a bolt on type of kit no engineering needed that works perfect for something like 5k ish (don't quote me on this but I also thought about the tundra and was going to supercharge it straight away).

Overall I really like the crewmax 1794, limited, and trd pro. IMHO Upgrade the stereo, supercharge it, dynamat it, new tires and its a really nice truck.

As is one of the quicker vehicles in Toyotas fleet if you can believe it, I think a magazine tested one 0-60 in 6-6.2s which is about a v6 Camry/Avalon time.

As for cons -- the differentials are sort of the weak link, the 4x4 system isn't able to put down 100% power to one tire.

I may pick up the three motor cyber truck, also liked the power wagon and raptor. I get the styling preference but I bet the raptor is the most fun. Wish Mercedes sold a pickup here.
