ss Daytona at crazy grey pricing : Most likely it will retain that value in the future and rise higher with time.
If you really must,go for it.

116519LN with black diamond dial would be my pick.
The YG green dial is mesmerizing !!
Platona the ultimate

Those three the stand outs for me .

ss Daytona at the AD has become "tired" . Everybody wants one .Everybody asks for one and the AD gets this tired look on the face when hearing it . and starts pulling out RG GMTs and other PMs which is nice to look at but which you cant afford and are not even remotely interested in !
The cup of coffee is very nice though.

You have to establish a strong relationship with your local AD sooner or later. When that happens, you can have whatever piece you want.
Cheers.

You can get the 520 and put an after market ceramic bezel on

You don't need to even spend money. Watch this place, I'm hoping to get a black dial ceramic soon. And just by chatting and checking in from time to time.

i paid over retail for my 500C but now - over a year on - the market price has gone up and i'd struggle to find one now at what I paid. Moral of the tail - prices do go up ( and down ) but if you buy wisely and need your money out, well you can always sell later. ....

caveat is the ( and down bit )...you may lose a bit if the bubble bursts, but I can't see the world waking up one day and collectively saying "oh my god the Rolex Daytona price is ridiculously high, lets all sell our stock at low rates"..

Nor do I want to buy six figures worth of PM pieces I don't really want and beg to be on the Daytona list with no guarantee of ever getting one.

I don't really see the Daytona prices drop anytime soon, rather the opposite. My preference would be 500C white dial, followed by 500C black dial, and 519LN whitegold on OF. I'm just not sure if I can bring myself to pay 10k over msrp for a SS Daytona. In comparison to a PM Daytona on OF, it seems like a "worse" deal, let alone the PM 5-digit models. I would be grateful to own any Daytona (except for two-tone ) but I also want to be "smart" about it.

It's a pickle. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this 1st world problem. Any words of wisdom?

Cheers!

Yes, get the 116520 white dial while they are reasonable. First Daytona with the in-house movement and a bit more versatile than the black/white version now.

Buy what sings to you and move along with your real passion. Lucky for us, it’s readily available albeit above srp. The people that are fascinated with rare references that hardly pop up in the market, it must be really frustrating to fixated on those.

i bought this Daytona 3 months ago, the AD called me and told me that they have it in stock.
I just does not understand, why this daytona combi is cheapest in the daytona's family?? I paid for about usd.18.300,--

I read from forum that the new daytona ceramic insert is fragile???

In daily wear the Daytona ceramic insert is a tough as sapphire crystal. If you don't normally damage or scratch your crystal your won't harm the ceramic insert. Yes they are shatter prone but it would take a really hard knock however I haven't seen one or seen any on TRF.

Thank bruce, I rthink this is the thread https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=476594 and https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...en+BLRO+insert they are some other threads also and with pictures.

Btw, can I change my daytona combi insert to ceramic (black) insert?
will it look fake rolex? or anybody has tried?

I saw some sellers sell fake daytona black with gold writing insert in aliexpress.

You may never get it at msrp so just buy it now before it goes up more or more on. Its just a game make a choice.

Buy the one that sings the most. That way, you only buy once.

Yeah I think I've seen that thread. It happens but out of the thousands of posts and all the watches out there ....not many. I have 5 Rolexes with ceramic and I have never had any shatter or break. Again it takes a really hard knock or some DIY TRF trying to exchange ceramic bezel themselves that's ends up breaking.

Pretty low % but then so is a.freak accident

I'll give you some personal advice. The SS Daytona aint worth $25k asking price or anywhere near that.

Just go get the PM one for slightly more.

This looks VERY VERY nice. Best value proposition at the current time and imho this looks better than the SS Daytona.

IMHO, buy what ever combination allows purchase at or below MSRP. For me I decided that PM really was better.

Agreed.

It depends on your viewpoint. If you’re a guy who’s going to flip watches every two years, it’s not worth buying over MSRP. But if you’re going to buy it and keep it for life? Who cares? It’s not really a money thing if you’re buying it because you love it and you’re gonna wear it for your whole life.
