Who would like to see the return of the Oysterquartz?
The only in interest in the Oysterquartz is as a novelty, if it were reintroduced it would become the dog of the Rolex lineup within 3 years.

I'd like to see that look, but not quartz. I think they look very cool!

a current production one there is no way i would buy. I get the appeal of the vintage ones though.

The Oysterquartz movement was amazing - that loud click with the mechanical hand advancement was beautiful. I regret selling mine - I've had 4 OQ Datejusts and 2 OQ Day-Dates over the years. should have never sold them (or at least kept the best example of each model).

Omega kept trying to make Q work in its Seamaster lineup but they realized it wasn’t viable.
However, they seem to enjoy enough sales to have dozens of Constellation styles available in sizes from 24-35mm. I am not sure Rolex could scale up to the production requirements to have dual product lines in the flagship brand. An acquisition would help - can’t imagine who, though... Maybe Tudor would be used as the stalking horse if Quartz was coming back into line-up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I'd like to see the case restyled and modernized a bit (it's very similar to a Genta design), but not with a quartz movement.

Why? The quartz watch is being rapidly replaced with smart watches, which offer all of the time-keeping functionality, better accuracy, and dozens of additional features.
I wouldn't mind getting an old Rolex Oysterquartz as a vintage piece, however. |

Own a vintage one and recognize its historical significance and awesome, unique look. Don’t think a new one would sell, so doubt Rolex would go that route.

Nope. 100% mechanical only, for me.

why not bring it back seiko style with a spring drive if patents allow it?
but have it as the dd looks now, not with an integrated bracelet. so people would have a straight choice, a mechanical dd, or a semi mechanical dd. i have heard worse suggestions. maybe knock out another model to make way for it. |

Worth saying the OQ is not a standard or typical quartz movement. It’s something of a marvel and worth checking out. Many seem to disregard quartz without knowing the magic.

Worth saying that they are an aging movement and prone to failure; I'm not to certain how repairable they will be in the future.

Not for me. I dig the looks of some of the vintage models, but one of the attractions to Rolex for me was the mechanical movement.

Pass. I don’t really dig the old ones and wouldn’t really care for a newly born one.

Why would a WIS want a quartz? The only quartz watches that interest me are Tough Solar G-Shocks. I haven't worn a battery powered watch since '95. I don't ever want to have a battery changed in my watch ever again.

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/se...ith-caliber-9f Yes, you have to change the battery every few years, but you can do that at home, or have Seiko do it and get a timely seal change, too. Other than that they will likely not need a movement service for 50 years, says Seiko. Incidentally the Oysterquartz 170xx references were in production for about 25 years. which is among the longest of any in Rolex history.

You obviously don’t understand the Rolex Quartz movement and how over engineered it is. It isn’t just a run of the mill quartz watch.

I'd like to see it updated. I don't think I'd own one but I would like to see it.
