Poll: Audemars Piguet Steel Perpetual Calendar Blue Dial 39mm 25820st vs 41mm 26574st
Hi Guys,
Since a month ago I've been considering to add an AP Steel Perpetual Calendar Blue dial but was a bit juggling if I should go for a Preowned but like new condition 39mm 25820st full set that is still under warranty or a brand new 41mm 26574st. The price of a like new condition 39mm 25820st full set currently goes for around USD38k while a brand new 41mm 26574st from a local boutique will set me back around USD63k. While funds are always an overall concern but in this case of either would be possible so it boils down to which would be a better proposition to go for which would be a long time keeper within my group of few watches under daily rotation. My thoughts on both are rather similar hence the in-decisiveness, main differences are: 1) Size 39mm vs 41mm(I hv a 6.6 inch wrist so either fits reasonable) 2) Week indicator on the new model (Does not mind it adding slight Busi-ness on the dial) 3) Both are similar amount of around 40hrs of power reserve 4) From my reading and understanding, the newer 41mm 26574st's movement seems to be slightly better in appearance and improvement over the 39mm 28520st 5) Lower price on the 39mm but with the higher price 41mm, would get a better built bracelet and double D clasp. Will be great to hear any good or bad comments from any guys who have handled or seen both models up close before for aiding my eventual direction on the decision. Unfortunately I will not be able to see either model up close as the preowned 39mm 28520st is at an overseas reputable second hand dealer while I would need to place a deposit with my local AP boutique to order the 41mm 26574st for the final purchase. Any thoughts from your guys would be helpful and much appreciated Following photos of each model for easy references: 1) AP steel 39mm 25820st blue dial perpetual calendar: 2) AP steel 41mm 26574st blue dial perpetual calendar: (Both photos are credit of the internet and not my own pictures of the watches, Thank you and apologise if I validated any issues using these pics) Cheers |

I prefer the 41 too, MP is nicer and more modern with its star detailing, and the fonts are too, plus dial slightly cleaner.

As a current owner of the 41mm perpetual calender, it is a no brainer . you will instantly fall in love with no regrets to the 39mm. The level of details on the dial will make you glance all day on it. Movement is much better and improved than its predecessor. Slim case design makes it set will balanced on your wrist. I have a 6.75 inch wrist. Dial is extremely well balanced. Only downside compared to the 39mm is the price difference. I do have some concerns on the old movement as I did read some previous owners expressing their frustration with servicing problems.
At the end both are gorgeous pieces but believe me you will not regret the 41mm. Sent from my HTC U11 plus using Tapatalk |

Out of interest, can you explain how it is much better/improved? AP say the movement has been increased to fit the larger case size, but they don't talk about any improvements. From what I can gather both movements start from the same base (JLC 2120), and the width increase for the new movement is only 0.6mm.

Love the 41mm. Moon and stars are just stunning. Love the week indicator as well, though some others don't like it.
Also, seems like you may be able to bargain a bit on price. My SA said if I bought one the wait was very short and he could fast track me on the list for a very hard to get model.

Can’t go wrong with either. I like the 39mm size better but love the 41mm way more...it could be an end all watch for me

Update of results : 14 vs 38 with more votes to the 41mm Perpetual Cal model.
Thanks alot to all who participated giving views and thoughts on both models. On that note, i've decided few days ago to go for the 41mm model and had just placed deposit today with an AP boutique which should get my watch in a few months. Cannot wait for it to arrive. Cheers |

Congrats! The 41 is one of the pieces I love the most but probably out of my price league give private school education for the kids is costing a bomb!! I’ll have to make do with my 15400 in the meantime :-)
