I guess safe unless it shatters as tiny shards can get into the movement.

Take it to an independent and have the crystal replaced, if only for the peace of mind. As that's a good size chunk taken off, in the unlikely case that you hit the watch at the same spot...the crystal may shatter.

I've heard RSC would probably want you to do a full service otherwise they won't replace the crystal.

That chip greatly challenges water integrity. I would have it serviced.

I agree.

I’d service. But at least replace the crystal.

Its on the outer edge of the crystal. It does not affect anything.

I agree. Recreational diving depth will not affect the water integrity on this watch.

I have chipped the acrylic crystal on my 16750 several times over the 37 years I have owned it and water integrity was never an issue. If the appearance annoyed me enough, I would have the crystal replaced. FWIW - RSC in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills have always serviced it.

Thanks guys, seems like a chance I'm willing to take. If it wasn't for chances we'd be keeping our watches in the safe ;)

If you don’t believe that there are serious stress risers from that chip, you may which to read up on stress analysis.

Sapphire behaves very different than acrylic.

I guess I'll ask it. How did the two Rolexes collide?

I wouldn't chance it with a damaged crystal.

I would be concerned that the crack has weakened the integrity of the crystal and would therefore replace it.
