Rolex AD "Bundling/Package deals"

To those that have done package deals and bundling :

Did you suggest the deal to the AD ?
Was the deal suggested by the AD ?
What was the terms of the deal ? A non sports model purchase ? A PM purchase ?

I am interested in how the terms of engagement works .

I’ve read a lot about others doing “bundle” deals but can’t say that I’ve actually engaged in one so can’t really comment on a specific occasion. I’d assume though it’d be a case of showing interest in a PM watch and then using a SS watch to leverage a deal. But not sure if it’s as simple as that as all ADs work differently.

But if you are genuinely after PM watch then there’s no harm in suggesting what you would also be after and see if this gets you one

If you know what you want, go in with a plan and lay it out to the AD, which may develop into a two-way negotiation that leads to your desired outcome!

Many on TRF don’t have the financial means to even consider a PM bundle deal, so the fact that you can, is a fortunate opportunity for you.

The worst they can say is no and it won’t be the end of the world....put yourself out there and take a chance!

Let us know how you make out!

From my experience, don’t even bother. Any bundle deal the AD will agree to will turn out worse financially for you than just buying the SS piece you want on the grey market.

I have had several sales associates flat out say that if I want a hot SS watch, I need to purchase a PM piece first, then I can be added to another list to be eligible for the hot SS watch. The SA tell me their hot watches are in their possession less than 10 minutes before being claimed. They want to reward their higher spending clients first.

One AD in Taiwan had several Daytonas in the safe and said I could buy one if I purchased over 50K in merchandise (with no discount) the same day.

I really don’t like these games, but it seems to be the new normal now.

Yea in every encounter the AD suggested the deal.

First they asked what I was interested in. After hearing I had my heart set on a Daytona, the SA suggest that I first need to purchase PM.

I’m not sure if this is of any value. But my wife called an AD this week looking for a SS model for our anniversary, she has a relationship with the AD as she has bought a few watches in the past through them.

The SA ”felt bad” but told her in order to get a sought after model the store owner has been looking at how much a customer had spent throughout the past year on jewelry in general, not just watches. She then told my wife if she would like to come to a trunk show and buy a few things it would help her cause.

Keep in mind my wife could care less about jewelry or watches it is not her thing. She found the entire exchange with the SA surreal to the point she told me over dinner knowing the gift wasn’t going to happen.

If bundling or buying a bunch of stuff I don’t need is the way it’s going to be, I will just stick with my grey market guy. I enjoy buying through him more anyways.

I wanted an anniversary dial 116718 GMT and was able to leverage that purchase (with a discount) to acquire a 126710 GMT as well. I posted about it and the general consensus was mostly negative. Thankfully I have never been one to follow the whims of others and I’m pretty satisfied with the results.

I was told similar, it’s not just watches it’s jewellery also.

When quizzed further that I had 4 Rolex previously from them I was told it was less likely to help as I had SS models in the past, none of them ‘hot’ models though, you can’t win this game

I'd only bundle with another piece I or a family member wanted so good chance to pick up some brownie points with the missus or the in laws, so you see Rolex cares about family.

Full disclaimer - have never tried, but cant see why an AD would be pushing an in-demand SS if you are already in progress of buying a PM.

Me neither.True,if you buy a PM,why would he produce the joker card ? If you consider buying a PM,the ss sportie may be the clincher, suggested from either side .

From the AD’s point of view, selling jewelry is a good tactic. I believe the margins on profit from jewelry sales far surpass watch sales.

A couple times I have had genuine interest in a less desirable Rolex model, or jewelry, and when we didn’t come to terms on price a rare SS was offered as a sweetener. I’m not opposed to such deals. Would do the same if I was the dealer.

I beg to differ , ive done two bundle deals with my AD .

The first was the GMT trilogy last year , Pepsi , steel and gold and full gold , plus they got me the White dial Daytona that I’d been on the list a year for .
All three are selling above retail still so in my opinion it was a good deal .

This year
I ordered the new Batman and also said I’d have the White Gold Daytona oysterflex , which again are both going well above retail price for .

Bundles work for me

I have dealt with a few ADs.(5) Only one suggested that buying any non-sports model may get you considered for say a SubC.Didnt say when .
Other 4 ADs never made package deal suggestions.

I was told by my AD when I was last in enquiring about the BLRO that, if I wanted a hot SS sports model, a Platinum piece (DD or Daytona) would be a good way to make it "magically" appear...

The GMT trilogy was his idea , he’d have still got me the Pepsi but I wouldn’t have been first .
The second was my idea but you have to keep in mind I’ve bought a lot of watches from him for the last ten years so I doubt they’d do it for everybody
