The second was my idea but you have to keep in mind I’ve bought a lot of watches from him for the last ten years so I doubt they’d do it for everybody

With the AD I have bought most of my Rolex watches, he has never suggested bundling. However, earlier this year I was changing jobs and it was on the other side of town.

I thought I will go visit the new AD and see if there was potential to start a new relationship. I asked about SubC LV while looking at the DJ41 and few PM watches. I was immediately informed that if I were to buy one of the PM watches, they can get me the LV as well.

I thanked them and have not gone back since then. My previous AD in the mean while called and offered the SubC that I wanted within 2 or 3 weeks of letting him know I was interested in one. What my AD has not been able to get me is the LV or the BLRO. It’s been 6 months and waiting... I think the AD probably gets one or two of these watches a year and I am sure there are folks higher in the priority than I am. Although, I imagine I am on the top of their list for everything...

It’s a good deal as long as you want the watches offered .
Buying several Datejusts to get your hands on the Daytona is probably not a good deal though

Seriously doubt that DJs will privilege a Daytona anywhere in the world .
Its clear that from what have been reported here, that PM /Jewellery is the anchor to the package deal.Whether suggested by the AD or the client.

Question for those in the know, with regards to the law in the States. If this salesman admits that the Daytona is available for sale, can Andy not demand that this product be sold to him ?

I would guess that as Long as it’s not displayed then they’re not breaking any law

Wife wanted a new Datejust and my AD happened to have the exact model she wanted on hand. So I used that opportunity to negotiate my SD43 purchase that I had been considering for awhile. Got both watches at a slight discount and had the SD43 in hand a little over a week after the sale since the AD didn’t have it on hand.

So I guess you can consider that a “bundle” purchase though the only thing I think I achieved was a slight discount and maybe getting the SD a little quicker.

Oh and I bought a Tudor there a week prior which may helped as well... not sure.

This SA went to bat for her and after a month she called and had it for her. But that is probably a way easier watch to get. The SA said she had it shipped from another store for her.

FH Rubel has always been great to me. David in Laguna Beach has always been straight up and pulled some rabbits out of his hat for me. But nothing recently that was a few years ago.

Thanks! I will say that it does seem to help a bit to take something off the AD’s hands they have in normal inventory when requesting something that they don’t have. But I would never recommend this unless what they have is something you actually really want. It just happened to work out that way in this case.

Don't over think it. Walk in and tell the AD that you have 100k to spend right now. Watch how quickly all those "hard to get" watches appear out of no where..

Years ago it was a different ballgame. Rubel offered me a BLNR with no sales tax. I still have never bought anything from them as their policies are way too onerous. They want you to have a prior purchase history just to be put on a list but won’t give any more details. I don’t play that game. I ran into one guy who they were presenting a SubLv as a reward. Turns out he bought a bunch of high markup jewelry before the Lv. When my wife and I are at the MV mall sometimes I go in there just to bust their chops. I know they will never sell me a SS and I will never buy jewelry or watches from them.

I read a post from another person on the forum about how he obtained Daydate and Root Beer Two Tone for a Daytona C White.

I'm in the market to buy two Day Dates in gold. Going to try to bundle for a SS watch, most likely a Daytona C.I will only do it with a discount because I can get it VAT free in Europe. Will see how it goes

In the U.K. I want to to buy two PM Daytona’s a yellow gold and an Everose.

I asked a couple of dealers to add a Black dial SS Daytona and they said no chance. Even the PM Daytona’s are on a wait list.

There is no “law” in the US about how a merchant sells its goods.

OK,so Daytona in PM doesnt work for a package deal in the UK.Must be a DD or RG GMT etc I suppose.

Interesting. So the sales person admits the Daytona is at the back and available, but have the power to say no the the customer wanting to buy it .Must buy a DD and then they will sell the Daytona to him .

Like a previous thread about bundling, I do not understand the negativity if the buyer wanted the PM watch. This seems to me a case of hating the game, but yelling at the players and the plays

I think so. I mean... Im not too sure about the law but since i just bought another watch, therefore, i'm so not ready financially to do the bundle so i just walked away

It's actually the same for other prestigious luxury brands. Say for Hermes, you also need to buy other stuff like clothes, jackets, shoes for a specific amount then with agreement of their manager, staff can then get one most-sought handbag to you. The crazy thing is that you don't even know what color you are going to get....guys it is happening

It's not against the Rolex rules to bundle. Nowhere do they recommend AGAINST it. In fact they let the ADs deal with it and meet the numbers they want.

ADs will suggest it if they feel like you want something bad enough. Better for you to engage in that line of inquiry so you can clearly specify what you want and perhaps what you want to pay for.

Moved to the open section which means this thread is now deceased ..

Thank you for everyone's input .It gives a clear picture of the bundling /package deal practices going on.
It provided the answers I asked and gave many insight into this "business model " .
