A query guys, I am confused over red sub boxes. Did Rolex supply boxes with Red subs from the year they were manufactured or from the year they were sold?

The other query is I have now seen atleast 3 different boxes for red subs, the Seahorse version, the stripe version on this watch and the green box shown in Eric Ku's website with the 13.8k red sub. Are they all to be expected on red subs?

Ku's website has a red Sub for sale - which was sold Dec 1973 according to the warranty paper.

The box is a USA Bufkor box from the late 1970's. The box IS NOT correct for this watch because 1) it was sold in Singapore not the USA, 2) the box wasn't available during 1973.

As far as other boxes available for the vintage Submariners, there was probably three or four variations of boxes that were used.

Thanks John, have been thinking only the Seahorse version is the correct one all this while. Are the variations country specific.

On the one with the Bufkor box which you mentioned is wrong for a 73 red sub, Singapore red subs (which am assuming also means the rest of the Asian market being same) should have the Stripe or the Seahorse boxes?

Hi Mark, could I see a picture of the box inside? Not a Bufkor USA box that John described as incorrect I guess?

(No need to quote pictures buddy :-))

Well: you can but the watch and box but that will take some time (bankvault and I don't change that often).

Thanks, does the inside look like the one in question on Erics site?

Well: I don't think it has the plastic plate in it. To be honest: boxes and Rolex is no exact science. Watches are shipped without box and many combinations are created in store...
