I'm not a huge fan of the RM design, but then I'm not mad about most of your other watches, so I would sell most of them but probably for a PP, AP or Lange.

Probably not.
For the same sort of outlay, you could have a pre-owned Romain Gauthier Logical One or an FPJ Quantieme Perpetual for a bit less.
At a significantly lower cost, you could have a DeBethune (pre-owned), or if you must have an RM, then the Extra Flat 016.
For me, aside from case material novelty value, the former 3 mentioned would blow the 035 out of the water in every aspect of haute hologerie.

To give yourself some sort of idea on what a disaster going for the RM035 might end up, call a number of pre-owned watch resellers for a valuation on a used one. Compare that to the asking price and if you can live with it, just for the experience, then at least you’ll be going into it with your eyes fully open.

Nothing against RM, in fact quite like the RM11. However if money were no object and I wasn't worries about future resale value I might add one in addition to what you have but would probably not make the trade you describe.

Appreciate all the feedback.

The RM is a nice piece, somewhat rare, and weighs almost nothing but like most of you said it is simply too much to give up for one watch. I’ve been wrestling with the decision for a few weeks now but now the feedback affirmed that this isn’t a worthy trade.

PS - out of all the watches I’ve listed only the DD II held it’s value and I was offered what I paid for it 6 years ago.

So the steel Daytona, batman and James Cameron all depreciated? Strange!

Did you buy those at retail or paid a premium?

In terms of the trade value:

PP 35k (a little worried this one will continue to fall)
Daytona 13k (not the latest model)
DD II 27.5k (pleasantly surprised at this trade value)
Deep Blu 12.5k
BNLR 8.5k
GMT 19k ( disappointing number)

I have an RM 035 which I traded for a few years back and I can make about 5-10k on it at trade. My biggest reservation if wearing a “sport” watch for over 100k - just doesn’t seem like it will get a lot of use.

Only if you trade for the RM Candy Corn or Ronald McDonald LE.

Don't let any of us here talk you out of the deal if this RM is your grail, must have watch that you've been yearning for! However, with that being said, if it somehow is not, then nope, no chance I'd be doing that trade!

If you're into RM, why not? Look, this may come out wrong and I don't mean to hate...

99% of collections on these forums are the same—nothing but sets of the same "popular" mid-level Rolex models. Throw an occasional popular AP or Patek for some pizzazz. That's about it. Now, if you want to have something interesting and have the cash, then going RM route is not a bad way. The style is not for everyone, but it is an interesting timepiece that will definitely please folks with certain taste. A great conversation starter too—that's for sure.

If I were in the tax bracket that could allow your situation, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Probably would keep the Patek though.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that doesn't see the appeal of these RM's - have seen a couple in person but just don't get it.
That said, they're your watches and if you're dying for it, go for it - but know that you may live to regret it. Good luck.

i feel you. i checked chrono24 always very high “market price” however seems like not achievable in real life.. PP prices is certainly weakening fast. .. i think you should buy the RM. Don’t worry about losing some coins.. life too short. just go for it. good luck. happy shopping!

think about this to get some perspective..

is selling 6 BMWs worth it to get 1 Tesla Roadster?

that said, there are so few RMs for sale, and the ones that are go to VIP clients who dump them on the secondary market.

If we were talking an 11-03 in RG as a trade then is would get it, but not for that one.
