Timex Q

Saw this on Hodinkee a few minutes ago.

I think it's rather cool.

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/q-timex

1:1 remake of the original back in 1979.

What do you guys think?

I don’t know, I have no relationship to Timex. Odd though that they use a Seiko movement

That's good to hear, looking forward to the pics. Most likely I'll order in few months when it hits $50!

I bought one too. For $179 why not?

I just thought it was a really cool piece. Something about it catches my eye. I don't know if it's the 70s vibe or the mix of the GMT master / Royal Oak copy - but I like it.

Oh shit, it is sold out now. Wonder how many are en route to members here.

Makes me happy I have zero impulse control.

Bit strange to have bi-color on a 12 hour bezel. For a 24 hour one the colors represent day and night, but here there is not really any function.

Yep. As others have pointed out, they're Sold out.

Seeing as though they didn't last for more than a few hours - I wonder how many they made in total?

They’re still in stock on the Canadian website. Definitely an interesting release

For those interested, here are some of the original models it’s based off of. Also, here’s a pricing fun fact. This watch was around $60 in 1979, so it’s tracked slightly less than inflation at $180 with the new version. The Pepsi GMT in 1979 was $795...and now costs $9250, if you can find one. lol

You got a discount? thats nice! I paid the $179 plus tax... I bought the watch to share with my 7 year old daughter so doubt I'd sell it even for that

It's a really nice watch for the money and well worth a pick up. I like the domed crystal and the slightly yellow hour markers.

The bracelet is probably the worst part about the watch, as it can be quite uncomfortable.

Mine came today. It’s surprisingly solid. Most Timex watches Ive encountered have been really light and cheap feeling. This is sold and has a little heft to it.

The bracelet is, interesting. It’s solid, stiff and doesn’t bend easily. Overall I do like it though. I’ve found it to be pretty comfortable so far.

Obligatory wrist shot.

Looking good fellas! How adjustable is the bracelet? I’m hoping my 7 year old daughter would be able to wear it with her tiny wrists

So it's a clip and latch system. The way it works is the excess bracelet (past the clip) is tucked in behind the outside of the bracelet and wraps under toward the inside against your skin when the clasp is closed. If your wrist is too small, it would wrap up underneath the bottom of the watch and may be uncomfortable. The bottom of the bracelet is not a very smooth finish. So I could see a case where it may irritate the skin if it was wrapped up under the case back.

I don't have the piece on me right now otherwise I'd show you a visual. Hope that explanation helps.

I think I get what you mean.. so its a wrap system.. on the bright side, it seems like it could fit a very small wrist.... of course the down side is that it may be uncomfortable as you say... thank you for the explanation!

I ordered this Timex and a whim, and it's arriving tomorrow. I'm not usually a flipper, but, man, the next batch doesn't arrive until next fall, and these things are going for $400-$500 on eBay, so I'm really tempted to list it...but it looks so cool that I'll probably just keep it.

mine arrived on sat.

keeping it -- not really worth the trouble to sell for a $300 profit. -- plus i'm hoping that this makes it possible to wait for the pepsi GMT that might one day come.

I'll post two shots -- one of the lume.
