Please help me be less of a watch snob..

Just read the article about the re-edition timex (Q Timex)

And i love the styling on that watch .. and it could possible help me wait for the BLRO that might rain down from the sky one day, if the AD gods deem me worthy ..

So help me get over my watch snob syndrome and spend a pitance on a quartz watch.

Timex has a good horological history; the watch looks cool; never have to wind/set it when you don't wear it often; it's only $179!

There is something about this I really like. I don't know if it's the 70's vibe or the mix of RO / BLRO it's go going on - but I like it. The Plexiglass crystal is cool too.

I ordered one. For $179 why not?

it's a fun piece. "Diver Style", which means it's probably splash proof. Either way though, not a huge expense to have a little fun.

Go for it! If it beings joy while passing time then by all means do it!

I have seen a couple really cool looking Timex watches recently. I imagine yours won't be the last post about the brand.

It's pretty for what it is and only costs $175. Maybe I'm more of a pure WIS guy, but I like my Seiko as much as my Rolex. Sometimes I wore my $300 Seiko and wonder why so much money and trouble for getting just a basic SS BLRO that AD doesn't even want to sell to you.

Totally - if you sat down and really thought this out, there are many great options out there readily available at a fraction of the price, that will do everything our Rolexes will do....whole thing is a bit crazy!

I like some of Timex's recent mechanical reissues too. Just proves how good design can stand the test of time. Also a huge Seiko fan, added three new Turtles this year.

Harder sell at $700. Also dubious of the "Movement: Automatic" listing. For $700, I'd want it to be confirmed Swiss (or a good model Seiko).

I just bought a seiko blue diver with pepsi bezel on jubilee bracelet (that looks a lot like the new rolex) for $229. 200 meters h2o resistance and soon to be beat up fun. Just a fun sideline. No worries.

I agree. Love my Japanese pepsi skx007. Put it on a black and red blueshark nato. Have about 230$ into the whole combo

Honestly never lusted after the pepsi gmt but after wearing the skx the pepsi scheme is growing on me

Ok, let me help you. “Stop being a snob and buy a quartz watch.”

I bought this one yesterday for $33 at Walmart:

If you’re not going to wear it however, don’t buy it. Pretty simple right?

I wear an Ironman all the time, but the bracelet on this guy is really ugly IMO. Easy pass.

How well do those SKX divers keep time .. is it +-15 secs .. or worse?

I like the idea of a beater diver automatic .. but if i'm off by minutes in a week .. its harder to spend any money ..

the quartz -- well at least it keeps better time than any other watch.

The pics make it seem like it's normal spring bars. If that's the case, I'll be moving it to a nato, day 1.

I personally like Swatch Irony's for rugged beater watches. I own two quartz and two mechanicals.

SKX models are hit or miss out of the box but can be regulated pretty well. All three of my recent Turtles with the upgraded 4R movement are within COSC spec although they don’t claim it. There’s a very active Seiko subforum here if you want to know more.

I bought a daytona today but I am very close to pulling the trigger on this. I have no issues with lesser brands - I own an Alpha and G Shock and this Timex is right up my street. You even get 15% off your first order.

I bought it! It's fun and watches are supposed to be fun! It'll be a great pool/whatever watch until my BLNR shows up sometime whenever. (All my other watches are on leather straps....)
Should I post my incoming here or......?

It is a piece of rubbish, if it had at least a cheap mechanical movement I may be interested.
