Panerai purchase

Hello,
I’m considering buying a panerai
Specifically; Panerai Luminor Marina OP6518 Manual wind Men’s Wrist Watch 44mm

I was able to haggle down to $2800 cash meet in person. I’m wondering if that is a good deal? The watch has some wear, and multiple scratches on the watch case back and could use cleaning but has zero mechanical issues and has no winding problems.

No boxes or papers

I’m hoping this will be my new daily watch. I love panerai but can’t afford new. And the scratches bother me but atleast it’s the back.

I responded to your other post up above. Ask the seller if the original plastic is still on the back. The scratches and dullness make me think that’s the case and that the scratches are actually the plastic wearing down.

It appears to be gauges vs scratches... not sure what mechanism of abuse would cause that but it concerns me... if that is plastic re above post that would be much better

Scratches are on the case, no plastic.

I worry about the fact there are no papers. Could be fake or could be rebuilt movement --- especially concerned if there is some evidence the caseback has been removed. In addition, what would a service cost if within a year if it is required?

I'd pass. Save more and get a new one. Unless there's a specific desire for that exact model there are a lot of options.i don't even get how a caseback gets that deeply scratched.

When you have no box or papers, I say take it for a check up.

Make sure it’s the watch you want. Judging by your other posts it’s more about money. That Panerai is not in great condition and won’t be easy to move on like that if it’s not the perfect watch for you.

Why not post this on the Panerai sub forum?
