AP 26400IO vs Rolex SS SkyDweller blue

Thinking of flipping my 44 AP ROO Ti for the new SS Skydweller blue. I would have some cash coming my way. What do you think?

Polar opposite pieces so not really much input I can give!

What’s your reasons for wanting or considering the change?

SkyD is a good value for the comp, but prefer the 44Ti

I don't have an AP in my collection at the moment and I miss one (or more).

What else is in your collection and what’s motivating you to do the trade?

Ask the same question in the Rolex main forum and the replies will be completely different...

I won't do it. Think the ROO is much cooler but if you're really thinking about it probably you should do it because the ROO love has gone...

How much cash? I would probably pass unless you have to have the skydweller now.

I'd hold on the trade and try to add the Sky later...Grab it at retail.

I would have to very heavily medicated to make that trade. Especially afterwards.

I wouldn’t. Seeing that they are SO different I don’t think that the SkyDweller could ever replace an AP 44....

Thank you all for chiming in. My small collection consists of a Patek Nautilus 5711 (white), Rolex 116500 Daytona (black), Rolex Hulk and AP ROO Ti. I felt that my collection was missing both a GMT function and a blue dialed watch. I have been searching for a Patek Aquanaut Travel Time 5164, AP RO Ultra slim 15202 and/or a blue AP RO 15400 boutique edition. All three watches are very sought after hence very difficult to find.

A few days back, my grey dealer posted a photo of a Rolex Skydweller (blue) and it got me thinking. I could kill two birds with one stone - a blue watch with a GMT function (plus an annual calendar). I agree with many of you that the AP is indeed more special but the Skydweller seems to round out my collection better since I already have a chronograph and a diver.

Here is my current lineup. More comments welcome.

I would flip the Nautilus and ROO and get the skydweller and another PM piece (5711r first comes to mind)

i would. Im a big sky dweller fan and as long as you have cash your way its not a bad move.

The best move it to flip the Ti, get the sky dweller, and put the extra cash toward an AP diver.

I would keep the 44 ROO and lose the nautilus - and get sky D blue - or get a different nautilus

I’d just change out the LV for the SkyD, that would then leave a great rotation of pieces.

Couldn't you just add? You have a beautiful well rounded collection. The AP is the only non bracelet there if that matters to you.

The SkyD is cool, from a ‘what you get for the price’ perspective. It doesn’t change the fact it’s ugly. I think that’s absolute insanity to think about dumping a Royal Oak Offshore for it....

That is a nice balance across the TRF Holy Trinity, don't trade the AP, trade a Rolex if you must, but really you ought to add here.

Does it have to be a gmt with a blue dial? Would a (1/2) blue bezel work? I wouldn’t swap a Ti for a Sky Dweller. Could you keep all of your watches and get a BLNR?
