Batman Vs Explorer II

The white dial explorer II is a fantastic piece. I have had it for 2 months and love everything about it. Orange 24hr hand pops. Brushed Steele bezel. 42mm case. Just an all around excellent piece. That said I’m picking up a BLNR soon as well. If I were in your shoes I would get the BLNR now as it’s harder to find and then I would scoop up a white dial EII which are much easier to find.

I have both. The Exp2 42mm is my outdoor watch. The shiny PCL and cerachrome bezel insert are not meant as much for the outdoor activities like rock climbing. I love both, but the Exp is my beater watch whereas the BLNR is more of my office and more formal watch.

I think you should consider the blnr and explorer depending on what you intend to do with it
1. Do you use one or two time zones
2. How it matches with your daily wear for work or play
3. Overall appearance.

For me, I chose the blnr rather than the explorer mainly because of the functionality of the double time zone. Plus blue and black just works well for any occasion.

While points 2 & 3 are certainly valid, point 1 doesn’t matter - both watches have 24 hr / multi time zone capability. Both movements also have independently adjustable hour hands.

I'm not really a fan of white dial watches so it's an easy pick for me....BLNR

I have a 40mm Exp II in black and prefer its look significantly over that of the BLNR (would hold true for white dial as well). That said, I would prefer the BLNR over the 42mm Exp II by a fairly wide margin on both size and look.

I think that the main concern with the BLNR for you would be scratching the PCL, and were it me I’d eother just deal with it or swap for a rubber strap when adventuring.

have you considered that the twin lock is ideal for the explorer?

it has a lower (desirable) profile to keep it out of harms way, it sits nearly flush with the crown guards so they can do their job and guard the crown.

the trip lock is useful for a 300m or greater dive watch but really has minimal value in a watch rated at 100 meters.

the more i think about it, the manufacturer may deserve some credit for the thoughtfulness of design :)

The BLNR isn't all that tough to find and I'd guess you'll be able to put your hands on another without too long a wait. As several have already said, I'd buy the one you want rather than the one that seems tougher to get. Plus, if you're open to it, you can get a an EXII Polar from a TS for about 6k vs. 8950 plus tax at an AD. Just my 2 cents...
