First Panerai --need advice!

Hi, I am looking for advice. Looking at a new 754, but with all the news around panerai therse days, wondering if I would be better off with a used model? Used models I was looking at are 183, 380, 210. Considered Luminor models 112 or 560, but really like the looks of the Radiomir. Any advice would be greatly appreciated--all the choices can be a bit overwhelmong. Thanks

Pick the one that you like the best. I owned an 005, thought it was too big, sold it. Now am very happy with a 42mm Submersible. If I were to buy another, I like the Radiomir. Sounds like you do, too.

I have 3, 2 of which you’ve mentioned as possibilities. I had the 112 first followed by 24 and then 210. I tried on the new Radiomir models (753, 754), but couldn’t get over the solid caseback and non-sandwich dial and logo. The 210 was less money and in my opinion is a classic 45mm, 2 line, clean dial. The 112 is also my preference over a 560. 2 lines on a clean dial and nicer looking movement.
They do wear differently, so I’d suggest trying them on first, even if not the specific model. I found Radiomir a bit underwhelming until I had the 112 and it made sense as a dressier watch, slim enough to fit under a smart shirt.
Hope this helps.

I’d say get a 210. It’s pure Panerai and you get to wind it almost daily and it’s 1/3 less to service.

754 is a nice watch if you are okay with the press-on (instead of screw-in) case back.

Of those mentioned I like the clean dial 210, that's a sweet watch.

From the current Radiomir catalogue I like the PAM01334 and PAM01335. Cool case finish and nice hands.
The PAM0992 8 Days costs more but the movement maybe worth it. Busier but attractive look.

Radiomir is a great place to start if you think the Luminor might be big. 210 is nice, but the 183 is amazing. Excellent first Panerai.

If you have the funds, then I recommend a brand new 754. It comes with an 8 year warranty and it will be 100% authentic. Nothing beats a shiny new watch. Go for it.

Thanks. Been looking for a few weeks now. Not much of a price difference between new 754 and pre-owne 183 or 210. Love the exhibition back but may just go new

By just the ones that you listed, I would go with 112. I prefer 44mm Luminor with the crown guard :)

You can get a decent discount on new from a Panerai dealer. Amazing 8 year warranty. Used is great too, but be careful for counterfeits.

If you’re hung up on brand new then maybe. Put a 210/183 next to 753/4 & the difference is clear. I had the choice!

I suggest getting a 210, if you can pull of a slightly larger watch at 47mm the 232 is also an option.

I got the same one, loving it. No matter how monstrous it initially seemed on my 6.2-6.5" wrist it works. It is still my daily or go to watch after 4 months since I got it.

BTW, got mine used, 1 yr old in mint condition, 7 years of warranty remaining, complete set from C24 for 25% off the SRP. It makes sense to look at used ones.

The 210 is the best choice for a starter, that’s what I’d go for.

Used will definitely retain value better for you if that is of concern. Most models can be found in great condition from trusted sources for solid discounts from new prices. I always prefer to preserve capital while still enjoying nice things given the choice and with Panerai that means used usually.

So, for a "non guarded" crown the 210 is the way to go it appears. However, what model would be the perfect selection if a guarded crown is desired with deployment with strap selections?

StanCho, your 914 is beautiful, by the way.

The problem with Radiomir is that it's missing the crown protection which is kinda a landmark for Panerai. So, I'd say first get a Luminor, then get a Radiomir. :D

I am seriously considering a 210 as it's half the price of the 1334/1335 models and has a non gradient dial - less is more. The new ones are beautiful but still too over the top dials for my taste relating to Pams. And, as one poster wrote it, Panerai's a are a great 2nd hand deal. :)
