Sorry, but I see them as old and ugly.

Shiny and new for me.

No appeal to me; I let my 16700 go because it didn't appeal to me. Not really that big on red and blue to start with.

I like that it illustrates the watch has been worn and enjoyed.

Slightly faded is nice - but I'd wish the blue part faded in the same speed as the red part of the insert.

Unfortunately, red often fades the most (e.g. red cars) - and after a while the insert lokks a tad FUBAR.

No faded bezel are alike . That’s what gives it character and uniqueness. Plus it tells history - as in Rolex marketing : It doesn’t just tell time; it tells history.

Can’t wait to see my fade and patina

is it the UV rays that cause the fading over the years? Salt water, pool water? luckily neither of mine have start fading for the age they are and i wear them daily.

Correct it is mainly the sunlight that fade the insert and actually I wish all my aluminum insert can fade faster as I prefer the faded look.

Four 16710’s here. 1 Pepsi, 2 Cokes and an LN.

All bar one serviced at RSC and each time I have the bezel replaced but keep the old one with the watch. Faded bezels just not my thing.

Yup.

I was lucky enough to get one from John Buckley a couple of years ago when I visited his store in NYC.

Thanks mate. Are you referring to the insert at 12 o clock position? Funny as I did not notice that and I have been wearing the watch from time to Time. Or could it be angle if the photo? Will take a look when I back home.

I have about 7 bezels ranging from crisp new to very distress faded. It's the charm of 16710.

Yeah at 12 it's definitely not clicked all the way. Firm press with a pencil eraser should do the trick.

Where are you guys getting your faded bezel inserts and how do you know that they are not artificially chemically-induced fade?

I read somewhere on this forum that a guy (I think in Arizona) set his insert out in the blistering sun for something like 3 months, and there was no fade.

Good point. To my eyes, some of the inserts in this thread are artificially chemically-induced faded. IMO.

Uneven fading - with spots - is usually a giveaway...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Thanks.

I actually have an extra Pepsi bezel insert that has been sitting in a box for the past 6 years. I had been toying with the idea of throwing it on the roof of my house to see what would happen if exposed to the sun for a long period of time. Wish I did that experiment 6 years ago. Unfortunately, I was also afraid that I would lose it somehow, so I never did it.

Agree but honestly sans serif 16710 inserts will be available for centuries. At around £35 new they are basically a throwaway item. This is one of the coolest things about the 16710. Poncy ceramic GMTs can only dream about such badassedness.

My ‘88 16710 came on a slightly faded coke. I thought it would look great on a faded Pepsi so I got a NOS black together with a faded Pepsi. Wasn’t expecting to like the Black as much as I do!
Such a great reference with so many options... new/faded/colors!

Anyone know a source for Rolex Bezels? I'd like to get a Pepsi insert on deck.
