My AD said....

So I just came from an AD and they told me for the first time in Rolex history the factory is now working 24 hours a day to increase production. Previously they were normally working 9-5 type hours.

This AD employee had just come from training or something of the sort at RSC in NY, and he was told this there.

Anyway, I’m making no claim to accuracy, nor do I have any delusions everything I’m told is true. Just passing it along since I don’t recall hearing it or reading about this here before. If this has been well discussed, my apologies.

While my AD didn’t say anything about the 24/7 production he did say his rep told him that production was going to significantly pick up after Basel.

I'd prefer not to have them do this unless it means slightly lower pricing or much quicker service turn around.

And they also invited me to their Basel preview next week too so I’ll get to see the new Pepsi in person!

About time. I would love it if they also lower the price and pull the carpet out from under the grays.

Did they also happen to mention a price increase, to subsidize the higher rate of pay for the graveyard shift?

I've always given the impression that Rolex never reveals what they will do or what they are doing.

As much as I want a hulk, i wouldn't like Rolex sacrificing quality. I do not mind waiting... as a matter of fact I think it's why I love Rolex as a brand. Waiting makes the whole thing more entertaining and more desirable.

Totally agree about Rolex never revealing business strategy. I never believe those rumors. However, if they really did make the factory 24 hours they could not keep that a secret forever. The whole company would know.

Have the Swiss historically ever worked double shifts?

So wouldn’t that mean they would need to hire more employees due to increased production that would be hard to hide.

I guess in the pursuit of excellence , the employees at a certain Rolex boutique in a major city up north in Malaysia will need to undergo a refresher course perhaps a sort of Rolex Spartan training in New York too since nobody bothered to turn up for work....

The last time I spoke with a service rep at RSC NYC she said the same about stock being low due to underestimating demand and mentioned plans to ramp up production accordingly. She said the drought wasn't on purpose. It can't be a big secret since she had no issue sharing what she shared.

Time will tell. I suspect we might be in for another slow year or at least half of a year past Basel before they fully catch up. I doubt it will be immediate.

I think you misheard the AD, he said Rolex would work 24 days in the month
For 7 hours a day, an increase from 22 days a month 6 hours a days a 10 percent increase, thus a 10 percent increase in prices will be necesssry
