I bought a few Rolex first, did not rely get Tudor, then when I started thinking about switching straps the Tudors caught my eye , and I got into them , I now love them both

Guilty. Went with a Rolex for my first luxury watch, but knew it would probably be my only one as I am not able to spend that much money on a watch often. Picked up a Tudor a couple weeks back and love it.

I won’t buy another Rolex probably, but I can see myself picking up another Tudor.

I bought my first Rolex in 2014, a brand new Explorer II Polar. I loved that watch and it got more wrist time than anything else I own, until I lost over 50 lbs and my wrist went from over 7” to 6.5” and it felt too big especially with the large pure white dial. I sold it a few weeks ago, in prep for a GMT Master II Pepsi my AD will have for me in May, which fits my wrist perfectly.

I bought a Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight the day I sold the Rolex, just to have a durable watch to travel with that wouldn’t draw much attention. I’m now in love with it and the brand. Looking to pick up a BB Chrono S&G in a couple weeks!

Got my Sub C Date finally after wanting it for 30yrs last June, when I saw the BB GMT on this forum I really liked the look and had to have it.....Sub gets the majority of the wrist time, I wear the Tudor on the weekends (not every weekend :))

Five pages from this thread kinda blows a hole into the "better to save for a Rolex instead of settling for a Tudor" trope.

For me it was Rolex first then Tudor (BB Bronze). I find though it doesn't get all that much wrist time but when it does come out, mainly on weekends, I do enjoy its presence. I do think I would prefer the smaller case size of the regular BB but the bronze patina factor won out in the end.

Rolex x5 and then Tudor BB 58. The latter is an amazing piece at extraordinary value. A keeper.

I already had 4 Rolex watches by the time I bought my first Tudor. It was the Pelagos ETA and I bought it because it looked and felt like a badass tool watch that could blend in and suit certain settings where wearing a Rolex would be less appropriate.

Since then I've been binging on Tudor watches that I needed to stop and buy another Rolex.

The Pelagos gets me the most kudos from watch nerds out of all my watches, probably because not many people have one so it's actually a very rare sight in the wild, I certainly have never seen another person wear one.

When an AD saw me wearing one he immediately gave me special attention as he knew I was a proper watch nerd.

I'm guilty as well... bought a few Rolex first and then gradually gravitate toward Tudor (and yes, I've been through the Omega, Breitling, Seiko, Tag, etc phases already ).

I bought a few Rolex watches before I got my Heritage Ranger. I really like the Ranger, and I wear it a few times each month. I usually wear something with a date while working so that keeps the Ranger in the box on most days.

How many people bought Rolex first and THEN Tudor?

Started with casio, then seiko, then microbrands like halios (regret flipping the laguna), then christopher ward, then omega, then on to tudor, then a couple of rolex and i’m back buying tudor again now - pattern suggests i’ve summited the bell curve and i’m headed back to casio again?

Purchased Rolex first. Sub in the eighties and then an explorer in the nineties. Recently purchased a Tudor BB. Great build and quality for the money. Price payed for the Tudor was basically the cost of my both my sub and explorer. I payed $1400.00 in the eighties for a sub date. Add inflation the watch today would be roughly $3000.00. While the quality of Rolex has improved, it hasn’t improved enough to warrant the current price. Tudor BB is better bang for buck. Of course this is my opinion

Saw this thread is still going and figured I’d update. I’ve since added a Rolex Datejust 36 116234, and a Migauss with white dial. I’m actively trying to sell or trade the Tudor 76214, and may also let go of the 94614.

Oh jeez, after seeing this all written out I’ll admit I have a problem, haha. This doesn’t even include the various GS, Omega, IWC, Zenith, etc.

Several pieces from the Rolex/Tudor list have been sold or traded though: Tudor Big Block, Tudor BBB, Rolex 16610, and Tudor BB GMT.

I owned a few of the 5-digit SS models but eventually sold them. When I was interested in getting another watch, the 6-digits just seemed to big, heavy, and bold by comparison. And now, too expensive value-wise for my taste. The Tudor BB58 came out and I jumped. Just wish it had a date function.

My parents bought me my first Rolex in 1988 (18th bday), a lady DJ white dial roman numerals on jubilee. In 1989 my first professional, a 5513 and in 1990 my first Tudor, an Oysterdate chrono 'Big Block' 79180 because SS daytonas were impossible to find in Europe. Yes, in Italy the 'shortage' was already a reality in the late 80s Eventually sold every Tudor watch I ever bought over the course of time and now only wear Rolex.

I owned multiple Rolex prior to Tudor, but recently grabbed a Pelagos LHD over a six digit Sub; the Pelagos is my favorite diver out, at the moment.

I haven’t done it and I probably never will. The line doesn’t really appeal to me. It would be nice to take a poll of those who owned Rolex now that would Consider a tutor in the future

Have any of you had issues with your pelagos or black bays? specifically GMT models? I'm reading a lot of mixed reviews with problems.

Interesting - would the tutor be able to teach me a lot more about different watch brands?
