Let’s talk about white dial Panerai

I recently acquired a white dial Panerai and am finding it to be a perfect summer watch. Bright and readable, and to me the great Panerai design cues work as well with white as they do with black. I know that the whites are not every Paneristi’s cuppa, but I’m really liking this one.

Looking forward to hearing other’s thoughts, both pro and con.

I been on that boat of getting a white Panerai for a while. And I think I have reach my own conclusion about them after I got my Pam 791

Not exactly white , is ivory. But here is my conclusion after owning this for a couple of months. They are very cool, but I feel like that they are not really Panerai, well they are but you know what I mean (not the Panerai that I have embedded in my head) . So my conclusion is this is that white (or ivory) Panerai are great as long as you have a the classic dark dial Panerai already on your stable , meaning as a second Panerai. Because otherwise I find myself looking for something that is missing. In my case I have to decide that I either add a second Panerai or I sell this one for a dark one.
Of course all this is my personal experience, yours might vary

Congratulations.

I have a 654. I have/have had various other coloured dials (green//blue/'decayed'/tobacco) and contrary to the view that a white is a compliment to a more classic dial, I feel that the 654 could easily be an only Panerai. Lovely cleanliness to it and a beauty on the wrist IMO.

I see no reason any other white (or ivory) doesn't stand in its own.

Must admit to a bit of love for the blue handed white dial in the 786 box set, but I don't really get on with the Bettorini style cases so I won't be getting one.

Wow, that’s a stunner. I know what you mean about it not being your typical Panerai, but I’d have a hard time selling that one

I have the 563. I like the white dial and think it looks best on the standard Luminor case (no disrespect to anyone else). My only issue with the 563 is the 8 day P5000 movement (it runs very fast in the first day before it evens out).

As far as aesthetics, I think it definitely makes sense to have a white dial in your collection. It wouldn't be my first Panerai, but they add something special to a collection. I put mine the on the tan nubuck JV strap and it looks fantastic in the summer.

I have 2 white dial Panerai. The other is an old school 114. IMO - having a black, white and tobacco dial is complete.

White dials are amazing, very crisp and refreshing. I have the 563 and my wife has the 113. Probably not as your only Panerai, but definitely as a second one to complement a black dial PAM.

499 on a Mauser Ammo strap by Micah of Vintager. I love the buckle too.

Sorry to bore you all with my 499. Confession - we are doing a challenge. One watch for one month (July) so, it’s halfway now. Another 15 days to go.
