Too scared to wear?

To me there's nothing wrong with taking care of your things. You can tell a lot about a man by how much junk is lying in his car, when the last time he shined his shoes, and what kind of watch he wears. This is no different for women. But there's certainly a limit. My neighbor doesn't wear a rolex, but he just bought a beautiful brand new GMC half-ton (not a porsche, but not exactly cheap either). He doesn't drive it to work, and he doesn't haul anything in it. This is ridiculous to me.

I bought a new sports rolex lol and shook when wearing. its very stupid but this post way have entirely changed my mind. I mean I wear it daily but soooo mindful and always wiping it down.

I am in the same boat as you. I am very cautious on how I appear to clients. They do not want a flashy dressing advisor with a slick back and gold President, like in the 80s. I wear nice shoes and clothes as well but nothing with logos or crazy patterns. My 114060 hardly gets noticed. There is definitely a difference in looking nice and confident, and rubbing it in their face.

I wore a two tone SUB c for the better part of 7 years daily just about everywhere. My Platona has been with me since early December and the band and clasp already have marks and scratches. I buy my watches to be worn. If I had to make a trip to the safe to see my nice things I’d probably go insane.

Not sure if I have a question to go with this. It's more an internal conflagration I am dealing with, and thought I would share my story at the digital water cooler of sorts.

My 116613LB gets worn in rotation the same as any other watch. Providing I'm wearing a watch that day, I'll clip it on without a second thought. Your colleague doesn't. Past that there's nothing to analyse.

It could be that the day will come when he flips over and starts exposing it to the real world. Maybe at about the same time I'll decide to put my Blusey away and only take it out to look at it.

You never can tell. But when it comes to admiring the brand, loving the watches and aspiring to own one (or some) we all have much more in common than not.

I agree completely. Being in the military, if someone looked like crap in their uniform, I assumed they were a POS and was usually right. Those people usually had dirty cars and dorm rooms when we would inspect. This has carried over to other aspects of my life, for better or worse. Depends on who’s reading this.

How a man is put together and what he chooses to wear and drive, as well as maintain these things sends a signal to me. It sends the signal if they take time, pride, attention to detail, appreciation for quality, and practicality in their choices. Are they a hot mess, a style guy a fashion guy? To me, they are all very different.

Like you mentioned about the truck, quality yes, practical since he never uses it for its intended purpose and wastes money to feed it fuel? Not practical.

Exactly right. It is unfortunate that people get judged sometimes on what they wear, but that can be human behavior at times.
