I always wear mine, without concern. Did tonight. PM, vintage, or otherwise. I won’t leave them laying around or locked up in a car, hotel room, etc. They could be stolen. I travel a lot, so where I go, my watch goes. Only exception might be a long distance run where I want my Garmin. But not if I have to leave a Rolex laying about, unattended. (Not all hotels have a safe).

I've always worn a old beater or G Shock to the gym. However, I wouldn't mind wearing my Rolex to the gym, i'll give it a go tomorrow and see how it goes...

The question, in my mind, is why would you? Common sense says no.

Lucky to have a small home gym so don’t have to worry about taking a watch and leaving in car, locker etc. That said I usually wear my seiko, g shock, or tag so I have a concept of timing. Comes in most handy when in the sauna.

Because it's humbug and annoying.

And leaving things in a locker is not an issue because I live 5 minutes away. My house is my locker.

On a rubber strap or nato, no problem. On a bracelet, not ideal.

My Tudor Submariner (black face/bezel) is my daily wear. It's my favorite.

For yard work and exercise I use my Casio Illuminator. Why, the op asks.....comfort for both and chronograph for the exercise.

I wear my beater watch (quartz pre-Bond Seamaster) to the gym, because I feel a bit conspicuous wearing a Rolex at the gym and because I don't want to worry about weight-related scratches.

I enjoy wearing my Sub on long runs (and using the bezel to time).

I have my eye on a 116520; haven't decided if I'll use it to time intervals on the track.

Wearing a 10k or 20k or 30k watch around weights and potential destruction? You must have deeper pockets then me. I’ll keep my watches as far away from the gym as well as myself LOL jk. Yea....don’t wear a Rolex to the gym Lol, wear the Timex LOL

I’ve been wearing my GMT and Sub for years and years. They just go where I go. Gym, work, play... it’s just a stainless steel sports watch. Spendy? Yes, but that’s what it was designed for. It’s not a Patek or anything else in that caliber. Don’t get it twisted gents, a stainless steel sports model is just that. If you’re looking for status recognition, step up to a higher brand. If you’re like me and like quality, just rock your Rolex Sports model and look cool. At the end of the day, whatever you’re doing, you ought to look cool doing it. Chicks dig cool...

I’ve done it before, just doesn’t feel comfortable. So, I leave it at home when I go.

Depends on how you define going to the gym. If you're just doing cardio or yoga, yea, go for it, but doing weights or seal training, no, you could crack a crystal.

If i wore a PM rolex at the gym I would definitely have some nasty scratches on it, no idea why someone would risk damaging a rolex at the gym unless they are just doing cardio.

Itd be a weird look wear a PM rolex at the gym anyway.

not sure why youd want to wear it while working out.

Not wanting to leave it unattended in a hotel room or locker I can somewhat understand, but a strong NO to going to the gym from home

I wear mine everywhere. I go straight to the gym from work. Safer on my wrist rather than leaving it in a locker.

And why would you need your Rolex when you already know that you will be spending about 60 minutes there. Most gyms have clock on the wall.

Plus wearing a Rolex at the gym will make people stare at it, or maybe they will approach and want to know you and your life better which will be annoying.

I'll either wear my watch at the gym or leave it at home and take my apple watch instead. Not worth the risk to me.
I had a Timex stolen out of my locker at the pool when I was in 6th grade. Timex...Rolex...makes no difference. I never leave a watch in a locker.

*because it was in a higher end gym

The safest locker room I've ever used was in the community-like gym (YMCA) where the per month cost is like $20/month. No one's scanning the lockers there for squat, lol

But yes, I'd never leave one in the locker room anyway.

I don’t want mine to get beat up while working out or knocking into someone’s face while playing sports. A GPS watch is just fine for me.

this is the same stupid theme as “is it safe?”

some of us don’t even think about it.

some of us put 3m tape on our watches because OH MY GOD A SCRATCH IM SUICIDAL.

(that was a bit of an exaggeration for humors sake).

as someone said in another thread - no one is wrong. you do what you want, i’m gonna do what i want. at the end of the day, we have paid our money to own a watch (or a bunch). what we choose to do with them is up to us.

these “is it safe!” “scratch” “value” threads are just silly in my book. but i guess what we all choose to do with this forum is up to us individually.
