Keep telling yourself that. And don't ever try on a platinum watch.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow. All day, everyday 95% of the people would prefer PM over SS, a bungalow at the beach over a condo apartment, a Rolls Royce over a Toyota and so on. That's called Human Nature.

This whole thread is telling you otherwise, but ok...you're just that "always right" type of guy.

Ahh... fork. That's hilarious. And I agree.

Well to be fair, if you imagine it then it's a fantasy.

I disagree. Today's fashion and art say otherwise. It's like saying all day every day, 95% of people would prefer those frilly, ornate garments of the 1500's over a charcoal, full canvas suit. It's called the art of the understatement my friend

Not the same, I'm talking about contemporary articles and that include ROLEX watches. I see you think differently and unable to listen what others are telling you. Have a great day.

Today, stainless steel is more popular than precious metal for more reasons than just the price. For example, steel is more fashionable than precious metal, the latter of which the younger generation considers too gaudy. Additionally, the new minimalist trend would favor stainless steel over two tone or all gold. You can see similar trends in vehicles (matte black finishes gaining popularity over chrome) and construction (less ornate furnishings and more visible beams and bricks). It's fashion and art, not just price. And yeah, I think stainless steel is more prestigious than precious metal to many, if not a majority, of real human beings today. So i'ts not fantasy.

Try finding a Day Date in stainless steel. There are millions of people that still strive for a gold or platinum Day Date over any stainless steel Rolex model. Gold will never go out of style. Try convincing your wife a stainless steel engagement ring is more prestigious over gold or platinum

I'd take a platinum sub in a heartbeat if the platinum upgrade was closer to market price of Pt (SS sub+8-10K worth of Pt). It's a tough metal and has superior corrosion resistance to 904L. I think about a gold 5 digit; they aren't that bad price wise. Just don't like the gold color on something as prominent as a watch. I might get over that or my tastes might change. The problem is that the alloys in 18K somewhat defeat the superior corrosion resistance of gold. Pt is really good stuff.

For now i like SS/904L for it's toughness and neutral color. I prefer the neutral color actually.

Welcome to the Stainless Steel Rolex Forum!! After being a big fan of anything SS for the past decade or so, I am moving on to PM. Done with SS and looing for something more classic in PM.

At retail value one can own a steel sub, daytona, and a gmt for the price of used PM watch...Steel is trendy because it is affordable and more subtle but if a white gold watch wasnt more expensive than three stainless steel watches I'm sure people would turn that direction. For me, I chose the hunt for stainless steel because I am young and trying to build my collection. I get more variety in my collection buying stainless steel pieces at retail than I would be able to afford with a PM collection. I think WG and Rose Gold are very trendy nothing against YG (looks great but not on me) not many people can afford though especially with an 8% increase this year thats like almost an extra 3k on those PM pieces.

For me, I wear gold for Bigger events and ss for daily. Ss feels like a beater to me while yg feels way more prestige but fragile. For events alot of Rolex than I wear AP.

I have seen people with $3M car wearing a ss Daytona but he also have alot of high end watches. Ss is just less to worry about. I would take ss to jet ski but I wouldn't take gold

I’d happily trade anyone my 116610 for an 116618/19.

Let’s see how many takers there are.

Pretty much.

Look i've said it once and I'll say it again. EVERYONE starts off with SS why? Purely because of price point. Thats just being straight up and 100% honest without hurting peoples feelings.

Once you have enough $$$ its always PM. If you tell yourself otherwise your lying to yourself.

I used to be this EXACT same way when I was younger and much much poorer. I'd always justify to myself that I wanted SS but in reality it was just that I could not afford it gold - whether it be YG/RG/WG or Plat it doesnt matter.

Simple and down to the point and no bullshitting around - thats the facts

I agree J,

Only a troll asks a question and then posts argumentative answers to his own thread.

I don’t see the OP’s posts but unfortunately his reposts appear.
