All the watches that are available for sale online are the ones they have a hard time selling in person. So who will order these online at full retail prices?
Retailers should at least try to sweeten the deal with free shipping. But at $500+ for Fedex Shipping, who is their target audience? |

Doubt those AD will put the hot models on display on their website, even if they have them in stock. They are going to be in the virtual safe and the only way to unlock it is if you purchase the plain jane calatrava at MSRP.

After reading this I went to hamilton jewelers web site where there was a 5711rg pictured. There was no add to cart in their inventory unlike London j. I emailed them to inquire. No response and the item is now gone. Which one of you beat me to it

Seems to me that Rolex dealers are calling clients to sell timepieces. Of course if you're a great client of the AD you can always phone in an order. If your Patek AD vaues you, they'll call you with the watch they know you want. That what an AD is should do, obviously, because you have a relationship with them.
In fact have a glorious timepiece coming tomorrow or Wed from my local AD, whose all 17 stores are closed due to Coronavirus. It's a Rolex of course, as need durability and reasonable service times due to wearing my timepieces like beaters :) Have fun and enjoy your time

Took them long enough.
Everything available for sale in a store should be available online. |

How is this really new? People call AD's from all over the world to find one who will get them what they want. Is this really all that different?

I put a watch in my cart and left the site. They now sent me an email for 10% off. Discounts available without much effort.

Diamondcellar website claims to have a 5164A in stock. Probably bull crap but someone can hit the phones if they are up to it.

By error, they mean they have it but wasn’t meant to be displayed online (for now, as reality hasn’t set in)

That is very possible, or these ADs are acclimating to e-commerce out of necessity and are now having to deal with the learning curve. Most of the ADs are very old-fashioned and I guess many have had no significant prior experience with selling online.

I really fail to see how this fundamentally changes anything. Everyone wasn't shopping various AD's around their respective countries and world already anyhow? Now you can just "buy" it online assuming the inventory is correct and the AD's magically have them, ship and it's that easy? Nope, not buying that.

I just texted with one of my ADs and they have not put their collection online yet and overall I was a little shocked how out of touch they are. they offered me the same lame options (mainly patek/ lange) that were always available. Maybe I am wrong but I see a rude awakening for them... but then again maybe I am wrong and people still keep buying all of their watches anyway...
