Late Grandfathers vintage Tudor
Hi All,
New user and first time poster here so excuse my ignorance, Just looking for some information on my late Grandfathers watch. Bit of a long story here but looking for some help. My Grandfather passed away a long time before I was born, and thus never got the chance to meet him. So you can imagine my surprise when his lovely vintage Tudor turned up at my Grandmothers house and she showed me it. I don’t plan on selling it, just would love to know more about it and thereby my Grandpa. I have done some research on my own but am lacking the knowledge on this particular model / era of watches, and was hoping someone here could enlighten me. As far as I know the watch was purchased in Australia (could be wrong), and he died in the late 70s - not sure if this makes a difference. Please see some photos I took the other day, Thanks in advance!! |

Would you be able to upload the pictures using something like imgur? I think most people would avoid downloading an unknown zip file from the internet.

Early 50s, Bombay Lug, maybe nice and original dial without being refinished. Pictures are not good enough.
Not a very collectable / valuable model but a nice heirloom to keep in the family.

Rose-in-shield dial logo is mid-to-late 1940s.

Thanks everyone! My Grandfather was the head of homicide in the Police force in my city, so i cant imagine what this watch has seen! Before security cameras and when cops could properly interrogate criminals with some persuasion...
Does anyone know of a reference number? Also, anyone have any explanation for the horizontal 3 & 9 markers? Ps: some figures i forgot to mention in the original post: about 34mm diameter. |
