My turtle is now my most accurate mechanical watch!

I have a small collection of watches, a Save The Ocean turtle, Blue Lagoon Samurai, a Grand Seiko SBGN007 9F quartz and a Rolex Explorer 2 16570.

My turtle was picked up in Japan when I was on holidays, but always ran twenty seconds fast per day, in contrast to my samurai which was always about six seconds fast. I was quite disappointed!

A mate has a timegrapher and all the gear to regulate. After 20 minutes my turtle was running with no beat error, excellent amplitude and very little daily deviation.

After a month on the wrist, and leaving the watch dial up at night, it has consistently performed at bang on, 0 seconds.

This makes my new and improved turtle my most accurate mechanical piece! I just wished it left the factory that way.

Nothing gets close to my hot-rodded 9F though!

My modded Turtle is runs about +2 seconds per day. These are amazing values.

I suppose my point was that a regulated "budget" movement can perform to a very high accuracy standard if some minor adjustments are made. My 16570 is consistently accurate, but still not as good as the 4r36! However, I'm too scared to open up that and play with it!
