Well no more. When I snap the deployant on my 5712 all of that gets erased.
Man I need to get out to the Bay more and smoke that good stuff man.

Somehow, I do not think that their listeners are Patek aficionados. They may buy their jeans, but not $25,000 mechanical watches.

didn't read all the replies but these artists well tilt the balance to the PM Nautilus not SS. they like the bling , so why 5711/1a or 5712/1a ?

The color of the metal doesn’t matter when you ice it out.
5711 and 5712 were the cheapest cost of entry.

Great post guys! and fun to see the different points of view. That is why we all have 2 cents. Not 50...LOL
There are "industry" people that place product. Been doing it for eons. How do you think the now-not-so-popular-anymore Panerai reached its position of demand? Stallone, Schwartzenegger, Brosnan, and on and on.
Not too long ago, the Offshores were a big hit with Soccer "football" players across the pond.
Who remembers when the ballplayers started dressing in style? Jordan and the bulls. The watch back then was a blinged out Breitling Super Avenger or Bentley. 15 years ago.
These days it is still the same story. Brands get recognized by "celebrity" status, and others get on board. If even to interpret it with their own style. It becomes a fashion accessory. Women have their Birkens or G wagons (yes women). I see more women drive them then men.

Again...great topic. thanks for letting me add my 2 cents.:)

If Brad Pitt can save the world from a bunch of Zombies with a Nautilus on, why can't you?

Steve McQueen, James Bond, and NASA raised the profile of certain watches we've all come to love.

Excellent reasoning ... I'm sure you find them more desirable when on the wrists of investment bankers and financial engineer types

I can't say I've ever bought a watch because of a celebrity endorsement, I love Roger to death, like we all do, he's probably the most admired sports man, indeed man, of recent times, but I still don't have a DJ41 or SkyD, and tho I am quite keen, he won't push me over, only I push me over.

the interesting thing about this is whatever is moving the needle on the nautilus and its probably a few factors, its still a small ripple effect that is massively increasing demand as there are not that many watches to begin with. For example, with Rolex's production capacity a Nautilus wouldn't be as hard to find....

This begs the question with even smaller brands like RM. Its hot right now with even smaller production and even smaller amount of buyers so its actually quite a dangerous position to be in... It only takes a few dozen people to get bored and move on and the whole thing falls apart.

The Nautilus may be hyped but so is RM and id feel more secure being a nautilus owner in this market.

totally agree. seasoned collectors have told me they have never seen such frenzy for the nautilus before so of course expect it to eventually die down. but of course with patek's stature/history and production numbers/demand, we have to be realistic that some models like the 5711A blue dial will seemingly ALWAYS trade for higher than retail, just prob not this much higher.

Not specific to the Nautilus, but I think the London, New York and other exhibitions have raised the profile of and interest in Patek. I went to the London exhibition and it was packed. Thousands of people went. Maybe some of those decided they wanted a Patek, and a Nautilus is an obvious choice.

Nor does the authenticity as most of those blinged out ones you see are replicas.

Patek knows how to protect their brand. Blinged out Nautili will be all the rage for the next couple years or so, then the crowd will get bored and move on to something else. Some other brand like AP or Hublot will try to aggressively capitalize on the hype and sign up a steady stream of brand ambassadors to draw the crowds their way.

As long as Patek doesn't start using brand ambassadors, they will survive the attempt to hijack their brand.

There is multiple posts a day for the past six months wondering why it’s so hard to get any bracelet Nautilus. I’m just letting people know why since there are some older folks and people from different countries who don’t know what’s going on with pop culture.

I’m not one to purposely stir the pot, but I do like to express my opinion.

Once again thank you for teaching me a new word. Definitely have to save it next time I play scrabble!
Cheers mate. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint. Here's to TRF

There are undeniably often vested interests quietly at work behind the scenes.

We've talked before about how SM and showing off has become this huge phenomenon that has overtaken the world, and that's what most SM is now about, even mothers show off their new tattoos and crave as many likes as possible. Even Zuckerberg never imagined the world would turn out like this, and apart from this forum I am off the grid.
Though I think it's not based on hip hop, it's a symptom of today's mainstream cultural values.

So correct, and a more salient point than has been given credence in this thread. If you're going to ice it out and with the main purpose of posting on SM for attention, why should you care if it's real or fake. It's only the appearance of, that matters. That's what SM is about, isn't it...
