Appeal for a Seiko Forum

Seems like these days, over half of the threads in the "Watches (Non-Rolex) Forum" revolve around Seiko.

Seeing as the brand has, rightfully so, increased popularity, I think it's high time Seiko receives its own sub Forum. You can replace it with Breitling's....jk....maybe.

Me too, it would make the most sense to add Seiko.

It would be a nice addition. Having said that, it could be a lot of extra work w/ the mods. And look at what they've been dealing with from Basel alone.

Why necessary to bash Breitling here?

I am a Breitling owner, I like my Breitling, but the brand does seem to be less popular than it used to be.

I am ok with a Seiko forum. I own many, in addition to Orients.

I wouldn't take it as Breitling bashing. Perhaps not especially elegantly stated, but the premise is that Seiko is at least as popular as Breitling, so it's deserving of its own forum too.

I'm not really into either brand, so I don't know the premise is true, but I get the logic.

I've been here long enough to know that a subforum requires a lot of work. Someone would have to dig every post regarding the brand and make a new subforum with all related threads. That said, even a big Seiko fan like myself would not wish something like that for our fellow members.

I support a new thread on GS/ Seiko. This brand is going the right direction and gaining traction with consumers.

With all the frustration mounting nowadays before we can buy a desirable watch from AP/PP/Rolex, Seiko is refreshing. As long as one is not snobbish and value the name on the dial more than the actual watch itself, Seiko ( and GS ) makes some of the best watches for their price point and are an incredible value. And there is no need to deal with annoying waitlist and fake promises from ADs for their overpriced wares.

I started to collect Seiko/GS about a year ago and now have 8 of them and couldn't be happier. In fact, I think I wear my Seikos more than any other brands I have now.

Oh by the way, the entire collection above cost less than one of my AP.

I’d be in favor of adding a Seiko sub forum and removing the Breitling one.

I don’t have anything against Breitling. I just think that there are 10x more Seiko threads than there are Breitling ones so it’s a logical change.

I’m partially joking about removing Breitling. But it is a little ridiculous that the Breitling sub forum has about 300 less threads than the “Writing utensils” sub forum. For God’s sake, threads about pens.....

A Seiko sub-forum would be nice, as there is a lot of talk about them, including Orient.

I suppose that it would be nice to move all Seiko threads to a new sub-forum, but I don't think it would be absolutely necessary.

Adding to the mods workload is a problem, though.

Agreed. Part of any good management system is plan-do-check-adjust. If there are watch subfora with fewer posts than writing instruments, then it’s time to check and adjust.

Why do you need to do that? You just need to start posting new threads in Seiko, the older threads remain as it is in the older (Watches Non-Rolex Forum). If it is only for new posts, I don't think that will require as much hard work.

Only said what I heard the first time someone asked for a JLC subforum, some time later a IWC subforum, then a Tudor exclusive subforum and the list goes on and here we are. How much trouble I have no idea so don't shoot the messenger. Anyway if things have changed and I'm not aware, Seiko has my vote as well of course.
