A 1680-White Ser# 5.6mil. circa 78-79 Hacking,non-quickset,with orginal paperwork.

VERY NICE, I love the markers on that dial. I am one of the outcasts that doesnt like the yellowed patina look.

Nice! I am starting to like the vintage look, but do not know if I could go so far as to like the folded over, (rolled) bracelets on early ones.

I'm liking yours a lot though.

No Rodger I like it too, without that patina,the watch would not look right after all its almost 30 years old.Mike a very nice vintage 1680,and some great pictures.

It looks like the patina fans are outcasts. Personally, I like the patina on my 40 year old watches, but NOT on my 15 year old Sub. I think we all show are age after 35 to 40 years. I like my vintage watches to have character, not to look like they just came out of the safe.

As for the folded bracelet, I have one on my 1675 and it feels ok, but I prefer a NATO strap to the rivet end bracelets for mid-60s Subs.

That vintage Sub looks like it has seen some heavy duty use, Dave. It's missing the button on top.

Sorry to say, I'm not a real fan of vintages, especially when they start to really look their age. And I have to say I do like the WG surrounds on the markers. Gives them a more finished look IMHO.

I'm with Ed on this one, guys. While I do admire vintage watches, I feel the WG surrounds give a bit more "flash" to the dial and add contrast between the markers and dial.

That's why I own an equal number of vintage and modern watches. I have two vintage Subs and two modern Subs, a modern GMT-II and a vintage GMT, a vintage Explorer and a modern Explorer II, two vintage Speedys and a modern Speedy, a vintage DJ (which I don't particularly like and never wear) and a new Daytona (I can't afford a vintage Daytona, so I had to settle for a new steel Daytona).

See, I have the best of both worlds!

I too, like the new style white gold on the markers, they look more finished.

What I like best about the vintage models is how the crystal is domed and well above the bezel.
