Opinion on a 114060

Does this one seem fishy to you guys? I was asked by a friend and thought something looked off. Limited photos. That’s all I have.

It's phony in my humble judgement.

Mercedes hour hand is too large and the “m” after 300m is short. SUBMARINER should be bold but not the depth rating, and the = sign should be italicized. Bezel engravings should be thicker, pearl should be larger. Crown guards should be flatter.

Right? I thought the crown on the dial looked a little too wide and somewhat imperfect. I did not notice the "m", but now that you point it out I can see that.

The spacing and placement of SWISS MADE at 6 is definitely wrong, and the triangle piece at the end of the Mercedes hour hand is off. Just my .02

It’s bogus, we’ve established that. It’s typically not discussed as to what gives it away. No need to educate the scum bags to make their product better.

I've always wondered about that rationale. It seems to me that discussion of it helps people better spot fakes. My guess is the people making fakes probably already know more than the people they're trying to fool.

Hour hand is too thick. The 114060 and 116610 is slightly thinner than the minute hand.

ItsFAKE
And its not just the counterfeit manufacturers we help by stating the suspect points, but the likes of eBay sellers checking if their :fake: passes our keen eye.

If we state why, they take other photos to hide that distinguishable point.

We are not (at least in my opinion) here to educate, just to help and stop people being duped and scammed

I agree, and it’s a never ending cat and mouse game sadly.
