So you are suggesting to happily jump with less than 100+m rated watches?

I have happily jumped into water over the years from various heights wearing various watches and had no issues - and can include diving from a 10m tower wearing my 14060M.

The reality here is that if you bring a watch into a dealer or service center with water ingress, they have no idea what it has been exposed to. I believe if the seals are worn and the last service was well in the past, they may well charge for repairs - regardless of the owners statements of water exposure. My experience is that sport Pateks stand up very well to swimming and shallow diving and I doubt that has changed.

Not surprised in the least.

Physics class says one can happily jump from a 10m tower with a 100+m rated watch. You enter the water at around 15m/s and a 100m rated watch will handle dynamic pressure up to speeds of around 45m/s (and your 300m rated 14060M up to speeds of nearly 80m/s). Plenty of safety margin.

And yes, it is a myth that jumping from the edge of a pool, from a 1m board, or splashing will cause problems for a water resistant watch.

Which myths exactly? I believe in the laws of nature. Jumping from a 5m or a 10m tower with a 30m rated watch doesn't leave enough safety margin for my liking (also considering that the watch may not perform 100% to specs), see my previous posts. Which is why I wouldn't jump from a tower unless a watch is rated at 100m or above. Jumping from the edge of a pool or a 1m board will not get you into trouble with any water resistant watch.

Based on what laws of physics? Are you adding height and depth?
